Allianz Global Assistance Classic
Often times, travel insurance offered by the tour company allows Cancel For Any Reason and costs a little less than Allianz because their premium is not based on age. Given that my tour was not conducted by a company that offers its own travel insurance, Allianz was a good choice for me.

MEDEX Take Me Home - Single-Trip
I talked with some travelers on the trip who had to file a claim on a previous occasion, and they assured me that everything had gone smoothly, so I felt confident in the coverage.

This plan offers generous coverage for the most important needed benefits, Medical $75,000 and Medical Evacuation/Repatriation $350,000. The plan also provides standard coverage for Trip Cancellation/Interruption, Travel Delay, and Baggage.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Prime
I have always purchased trip cancellation insurance, this is the first time I've ever needed it. My nephew died very suddenly, and of course I needed to stay to be with my sister and her family to help with funeral arrangements. I was able to get the costs back from the cruise line, but it did not cover the additional fare I had to pay to go at a later date, in a higher season, but that was my choice to go later in summer. The airline allowed a full change without penalty, which I was unaware they do, with a copy of the obituary. But I will continue to cover the airfare in case I have to pay airfare home if something happens mid-trip and have to purchase a fare home. Everyone at Nationwide was wonderful to work with, very empathetic and really cared about my circumstances.

TravelSafe Classic
It took over 16 weeks, over 120 pages faxed (some of it multiple times) and far too many telephone calls to resolve my claim. And, yes, I submitted all they asked for on the forms they requested including proof of insurance payment in a timely fashion. I even provided a spreadsheet because our situation was slightly more complicated. Claims are processed through a third party administrator and you are never able to speak to the claims examiner. Updates consist of a generic postcard or a generic entry on their website. It added so much stress to an already difficult situation. Yes, we got most of our money refunded but the process is designed to wear you out so you give up. Even when we got the checks the summary of payment was almost impossible to decipher. It was only because of my determination and insistence that our claim was resolved to my satisfaction.

CSA Travel Protection Custom
We are satisfied with price for the coverage we wanted. However, its difficult to rate the overall satisfaction with this plan as we did not have to file a claim.
