It took 7 weeks, 3 messages and 1 phone call to get my simple claim processed and paid. All 3 of the messages I sent online were ignored and AIG gave me no explanation of when my claim would be processed. It took an angry phone call for any movement to happen.

I actually appreciate the opportunity to make this review because we are still pleasantly surprised at the wonderful service and prompt coverage of our claim. We booked this insurance 18 months ahead of our travel, and as one part of our travel changed, it was the Nationwide Company representative herself that made us aware that there was coverage for that change. They then provided clear and explicit instructions for forms and how to submit them and then we received our check in less than 10 days.
We can only think that if we had had a true emergency or other difficulty, Nationwide's assistance and claim response would have been equally quick. Based on our interactions with the representatives and fast claim coverage, we highly recommend this company and will definitely look for travel insurance with them again!

It turns out (in the small print somewhere) that to process a small claim you must first submit your claim to Medicare. I believe Medicare does not cover overseas, but one must go through the process anyway. I believe most all foreign travelers are older and under Medicare, so this effectively drags out the claims process to discourage pursuing a claim and save your company money.

We appreciate customer comments and continually use customer feedback to improve our products. At the time of your claim, the silver plan provided coverage secondary to Medicare. The gold and platinum plans serve as primary coverage and it is not necessary to file with Medicare first. Since I (happily) didn't need to file a claim it's a little hard to quantify my satisfaction or to say I would or would not recommend CSA Travel Protection Custom Luxe. I do know that my wife and I felt better about our travel investment knowing that we had insurance coverage.

I filed a trip interruption claim because of a terriost attack in Istanbul. Celebrity decided not to stop in Istanbul and I had to make other flight arrangements which cost an additional $581.00. There was a clause that said the terriost attack had to happen a month before my departure and that Roam Right was not responsible to reimburse me. Celebrity did compensate $300. And I filed with Roam Right for $281. I guess insurance companys always have clauses that prevent customers from getting money back.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. As stated, trip interruption as a result of a terrorist attack is only covered if the attack occurs within 30 days of the travel dates. This is because the travel insurance is designed to protect travelers against unforeseen incidents. If an incident occurs more than 30 days prior to traveling, it is no longer considered unforeseen.

Medicare does not cover outside of the United States, but some Medicare Supplement plans do provide some coverage while traveling abroad. If a travel insurance plan is secondary, the insured person(s) would be required to file a claim with the Medicare Supplement first. If coverage is denied or only partially provided, the travel insurance would cover the remainder, up to the policy limit.
