This plan was better than the cruise line vacation plan. Since I had purchased a plan from Travelex for a previous trip, I had the peace of mind knowing that should something go awry during this “new normal,” I would be covered for the trip. Highly recommend using insuremytrip for cost comparison in selecting the right plan for you. For this trip, it was Travelex for me.

Trawick International Safe Travels Voyager
We wanted to purchase a plan at the last moment, not to cover a trip cancellation, but to cover a delay of trip, in case we tested positive for Covid in Mexico and could not return on time. The customer representative that I spoke with was extremely helpful and helped us pick the plan that was best for us without costing a fortune. All of the plans automatically include medical insurance, so I was actually able to save money by canceling my original medical plan that I had purchased elsewhere. From now on, I will go through this company for my travel needs.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential

It gave me extra assurance during this COVID pandemic to have trip insurance...thankfully that we did not have to use. Of particular note was the "Travel Delay" section of our policy which promised 10 days of coverage if we were denied entry into the US due to a positive COVID test. 10 days of coverage was better than most other policies. As long as the US has the requirement to show a negative COVID 19 test the day before reentry, be sure to check the "Travel Delay" portion of your policy, and know how to engage it if you need to.

Our flight was canceled and we did not go. Makes me question buying insurance when the trip was canceled- maybe there should be a refund option in such cases

Fortunately, we did not have to file a claim, however having the policy provided comfort and insurance in case we did, especially in a foreign country. Always would recommend Insuremytrip.com. Easy to use.

Seven Corners Liaison Travel Basic
This plan didn't cover trip delay or interruption which we experience in Mexico. Our flight was cancelled and we had to stay in a hotel for the night and take the flight the next day. Also I didn't cover covid related expenses. So if we tested positive and had to isolate for 7-10 days this plan will not reimburse for those costs.
