MEDEX TravMed Choice Outbound
Toward the end of my trip I became pretty sick. We were in a far flung place, so I asked the tour guide to call his company and tell them I wanted to return home. (They had my insurance information.) I was told that I could sign off the tour and I'd then be on my own. I was way too ill to handle anything myself, and there was no phone access.
So all I could do was stay in bed alone for the rest of the trip.
My question is this: if one is really ill, as i was, then just how is one meant to contact the insurance company and arrange to be helped?

    The best way to obtain assistance from the insurance provider is to contact the 24/7 Emergency Assistance company by calling the toll-free or collect-call telephone numbers printed on your ID card or emailing [email protected]. "Upon your request, MEDEX will provide referrals to pre-approved physicians, hospitals, dentists, and dental clinics in the area you are traveling in order to assist you in locating appropriate treatment and quality care."

    If the condition is an emergency, please call the local 911 to be taken to the nearest physician or hospital, and then contact the 24/7 Emergency Assistance company as soon as reasonably possible.

WorldTrips Atlas International
Our trip ended early (almost 6 months early) and we were given a refund on the remaining amount. That made us happy as the reason we returned was not around a decision we made (took on a year long house sitting job and the house sold). So, we were pleased with the ease in getting our money refunded. We did not file a claim, which is great, but nothing I can comment on at this time! Thank you!
