Even though we did not have to use the insurance just knowing that we had coverage was wonderful. Compared to the insurance that was offered by our cruise company this was a savings. I will always check with InsureMyTrip before traveling.

I didn't need it, but I was glad I had it. If you are going on a trip, buy this coverage. Don't put it off, so that you are able to get a pre-existing conditions waiver.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
I had a damaged large spinner suitcase when I arrived at my home airport. The pull handle was completely broken off meaning I will have to buy a new one. I considered filing a claim but when I read the policy, I realized it would not be worth my while because articles are not covered during actual processing/handling. Well, then basically the luggage isn't covered during the trip at all.

    Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that your luggage was damaged. If your luggage was checked with the airline and damaged by an airline employee, that does not exclude you from coverage. We have taken excerpts from the policy certificate to include important information to consider for this occurrence:

    "The Company will reimburse You up to the Maximum Benefit shown on the Confirmation of Coverage, if You sustain Loss, theft or damage to baggage and personal effects during the Trip, provided You have taken all reasonable measures to protect, save and/or recover the property at all times. The baggage and personal effects must be owned by and accompany You during the Trip. The police or other authority must be notified within twenty-four (24) hours in the event of theft."

    "If Your property covered under this Certificate is lost, stolen or damaged, You must:

    (a) notify the Company, or its authorized representative as soon as possible;

    (b) take immediate steps to protect, save and/or recover the covered property:

    (c) give immediate notice to the carrier or bailee who is or may be liable for the Loss or damage;

    (d) notify the police or other authority in the case of robbery or theft within twenty-four (24) hours."

    We understand that you were unable to secure documentation from the airline and will not be filing a claim against the policy, but if you have any additional questions or concerns, please call us at 800-487-4722.
