I did not find that the coverage is adequate for extreme sport. While you are hiking in remote areas, better coverage is needed.

    Thank you for your comments. However, your Nationwide Essential policy doesn't consider hiking an extreme sport. In this policy, coverage is excluded for:

    "12. participating in bodily contact sports; skydiving; hang-gliding; parachuting; mountaineering; any race; bungee cord jumping; and speed contest (speed contest shall not include any of the regatta races;) scuba diving; spelunking or caving; heliskiing; extreme skiing..."

Unfortunately there was a medical emergency. These people handled it in an exemplary fashion and were brilliant in arranging for medical assistance and repatriation. Remember to keep ALL the paperwork you receive, get receipts and doctors' notes wherever possible, as the proof of financial claim is tortuous. In the end it was an excellent outcome when we spoke to an agent who had authority to effect a resolution.

We have used this plan for the second time and it meets all of our requirements and concerns. Fortunately, we have not had to make a claim. We will continue to use General Global Assistance in the future.
