I highly warn people to NOT get this insurance.
The claim process is fairly simple. Fill in a form, send it along with scans of the documents.
BUT the catch is.

They only make settlements of claims through CHECKS. Yes, you heard that right, checks in the mail.
What is this, are we in the 80s?? Also.... it doesn't matter if you're abroad.

They'll send you a US check, for a US bank, and expect you to somehow cash it in.

So, if you're not living in the USA, then this insurance company is not for you.

Stay away.

Your policy does include a "TEN-DAY LOOK: If You are not satisfied for any reason, You may cancel insurance under this Policy by giving the Company or the agent written notice within the first to occur of the following: (a) ten (10) days from the Effective Date of Your Insurance; or (b) Your Scheduled Departure Date. If You do this, the Company will refund Your premium paid provided no Insured has filed a claim under this Policy."

    Unfortunately you purchased this policy back on October 10, 2018 so you do not qualify for the 10 Day Refund.

My father died from injuries received while traveling overseas. The medical bills and air ambulance costs nearly cost my mother her house. Since that trip I have used www.insuremytrip.com exclusively for overseas coverage. I wish I could tell you about the claims process but I thankfully have never had to use the coverage. I will say the biggest problem was that my fathers coverage was just way too little. For the cost you cannot go wrong with extra coverage. Don't assume you'll never have to use it. I hope this helps someone.

Generali Global Assistance Preferred
We did have a delay in baggage delivery on the way home that was inconvenient but did not require purchase of replacement supplies or additional laundry expenses that would have been covered by the plan. However it did require extra time and phone calls with the airline over 3 days to track down the bags and there is no compensation for that effort.

    Although your plan would not reimburse you for the additional time and phone calls, Generali Global Assistance did offer help in "Locating Lost or Stolen Items: The assistance provider will assist in locating and replacing lost or stolen luggage, documents and personal possessions."

    "How to Call the 24-Hour Emergency Hotline - If you need emergency help for an available service, you can call toll-free 24 hours a day to (877) 243-4135 from within the United States, or call collect to (240) 330-1529 from around the world."

    We hope that this information will be helpful to you for future purchases of a Generali policy.

Insure My Trip is the only travel insurance I purchase for all of my trips because the staff is great, make fabulous suggestions, and it is easy to do. Like I can purchase by phone to ensure I get the exact coverage I need as I do mainly adventure and third-world country trips. I have even mentioned it several times in my Travel Advice Travel Insurance ebook which hopefully will be online within the month. Keep up the good work!
