Poor coverage. Poorer Service. Would NEVER recommend to anyone else. Would, in fact, tell others to AVOID this misleading and unethical company and its products.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. The CSA Travel Protection Custom plan is a solid, comprehensive plan with an extensive list of covered events for Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, and Travel Delay.

For a valid medical claim CSA Travel Protection requires all bills and reports for medical and/or dental expenses claimed, any requested information related to the claimed expense(s), including but not limited to, an explanation of benefits from any other applicable insurance, and a signed patient authorization to release any information required by us, to investigate your claim.

The large majority of travel insurance providers offer excess or secondary insurance. However, we do have several plans which are primary. In the future, please give us a call at 800-487-4722 so that we can assist you in selecting a plan that best suits your needs.

didn't cover pre existing conditions so I was disappointed, as that was what I was looking for.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy.

The Global Underwriters Diplomat International plan covers medical expenses up to a maximum of 20,000 USD due to a sudden and unforeseen recurrence of a Pre-existing Condition. This does not include coverage for known, scheduled, required or expected medical care, drugs, or treatments existent or necessary prior to the effective date of coverage. Otherwise, the plan excludes coverage for pre-existing medical conditions in a 12 month period prior to the effective date of coverage. This exclusion does not apply to Emergency Evacuation/Repatriation.

The best way to waive the pre-existing conditions exclusion is to purchase a Comprehensive travel insurance plan immediately after you put money down towards your trip. Most policies will offer a waiver of pre-existing conditions if you satisfy the following requirements: purchase the policy within 10 to 21 days after making the initial trip payment; insure 100% of the prepaid non-refundable expenses prior to your departure date; and be medically fit to travel the day you purchase the policy.

Please call us at 800-487-4722 if you would like to learn more about obtaining coverage for pre-existing conditions.

My husband had to cancel at the last minute for work reasons so he was unable to join us on the trip to Thailand. We submitted the paperwork exactly as requested and it was paid promptly. No issues. I also hurt my knee while on the trip and had to go to an urgent care clinic for treatment. Again, I followed the instructions given on the forms for submitting the claim, they called to clarify one issue, and then paid with no problem. I had kept all receipts and was able to provide everything they needed to document issues so things went smoothly. Very very pleased. I have been buying travel insurance for years and never had to file a claim for medical reasons, so I was glad I purchased this again.

I felt very comfortable with this plan. The feeling of not having to worry about any possible problems is priceless! The best part was not having to use it!

I've been using HCC for years. In August I finally had an accident that required a 3-day hospital visit. I had to pay out of pocket almost $3,000 and its now 60 days after my accident and I have not been reimbursed. The company has given me no updates or time frame for this. My accident and treatment were very standard and clearly fall within the guidelines of coverage. It shouldn't take an underwriter more than an hour to see this and approve it.

I can no longer recommend HCC - they are the cheapest so I guess you get what you pay for. I will pay more in the future for a more responsive plan. As a Yoga Teacher, $3000 is a lot of money which I needed to borrow- I thought the entire point of insurance was to be covered when you have an accident....

I am frustrated that people give them such high reviews. Reviews from people who did not file claims aren't an accurate assessment of the company.

UPDATE: As of 11/29 I have not been reimbursed. I was told that my claim was closed because I did send a from that my hospital sent to them on the day of my accident. The front-line reps are very uninformed- many contradicting each other. The last guy told me it was a bad idea to pay my claim myself (I had to to get my passport back from the hospital), which was exactly the advice I received from HCC several months ago.

When an InsureMyTrip rep contacted them directly it was discovered that 2 pieces of paper were 'stuck' together and they would reopen my claim. Very unprofessional.

UPDATE Feb 2 2016

I finally received my claim check. I was reimbursed for the total amount of my claim, minus a deductible and small fee for the exchange rate.

I'm happy about this, however still unhappy about the 5 months it took to be paid. The company sent 4 checks to me that never arrived and after a number of phone calls they finally UPS'd one to me. How can 4 checks get lost in the mail?

Anyway, look elsewhere. I'm currently using IMG Global as they were very responsive to my questions about their policy, however I have not had to file a claim yet.

Did not have to use the insurance, so the rating is not based on the fact how the insurance performs in an actual case of need.

Simply said, a great plan. Fortunately, there were no incidents requiring a claim but I felt confident we were covered if anything should occur. I especially liked the information packet which outlines coverages and who to call if you have any issues. I would not hesitate to use JH Insurance again for my next trip.

AIG Travel Travel Guard MedEvac Plan
This was a great option for travel insurance that only covers what I needed (medical/emergency coverage). Many other travel insurance plans lump in features that I have never needed (trip cancellation), which increases the premium. This plan is the best of both affordability as well as peace of mind.
