I typically buy travel insurance for coverage in case we are unable to make a trip and for medical coverage while traveling. Although most policies have additional coverage I don't put much value to them as the rules are so strict and the coverage so minimal I don't view it as a useful benefit. To my surprise I ended up submitting a claim for delayed travel after a series of flight delays and cancellations extended my arrival time by more than 12 hours and resulted in having to be rerouted to a different destination. The policy covered all my costs for prepaid hotel, transfers, and tours that I missed. It was relatively easy to file the claim. AXA said it would take 30 days to process and on the 30th day I received a direct deposit for the full amount of my claim. Very pleased with the result. It is important to ready the fine print! For example, this policy requires filing a claim within 7 days (because we were in SC we had 30 days) which is really short- we wouldn't even have returned from the trip by then. And the delay had to be for 12 hours to qualify.

I saw Generali offices in several cities we visited, and this reassured me that my confidence in Generali is not misplaced. Luckily, unlike after a prior trip to Europe, we will not need to file a claim this time .

I’ve used C&F Travel in the past and had good experience with them when I filed for claim for minor incident with cruise excursion. Ever since, I’ve used them as travel insurance almost every trip.
My only dissatisfaction lately is when I emailed their customer service to confirm if Covid treatment or hospitalization in another country is also covered. I did not get any reply at all.

It's insurance. Fortunately, I did not need it. But I have a travel companion who did on a different trip and between her insurance and mine, we suffered no out-of-pocket expenses. That experience confirmed my position that I will not travel without it, particularly the medical and evacuation coverage. I always refer InsureMyTrip.com to anyone who asks me about trip insurance.

I did shop around for the best deal and AIG Travel Guard seemed to meet all my requirements and for a reasonable price. I hope if I ever had to place a claim that I would still feel this way.

C&F Travel Insured InternationalWorldwide Trip Protector Lite
We didn’t get to use the insurance (which is the idea!) but it gave us peace of mind all throughout our trip and for that I believe it’s worth it! We did have trip delays and cancellations in our trip to Italy and C&F was fast and efficient in processing our claim... we have an upcoming trip to Croatia and this is the same travel insurance we used!!! Recommended!!!
