Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
Our daughter in law became pregnant after we took out this policy and her doctor forbade her from travelling. Nationwide denied the claim. We were denied again when appealing that finding. After asking for their contact for our lawyer, we received payment very quickly. Shame!

I need this plan essentially just for medical. I have not filed a claim but it gives me peace of mind while I travel. It is very reasonably priced as well.

We did not use the medical portion; the trip was canceled due to evacuation orders for the entire Northwest Territories due to wildfire. They declared a state of emergency; fortunately the orders were issued 2 days before we left home.
It was a lengthy process because the supplier we booked through is not large and a lot of the standard things asked for had to be created especially to satisfy the exact documents needed. The vendor had clearly stated non refundable on their web site and our booking confirmation. This was an unusual circumstance; at this point the supplier doesn't even know if their lodge is still standing.

I have taken out Generali policies several times for our trips. I have only submitted claims twice. The first time I had two claims that were both paid. Most recently I again had two claims. one was paid and the other was denied. While the denial followed the contract guidelines, I was disappointed as the cruise ship recommended I file the claim after they refused to reimburse me for a missed excursion.

This was the first time I ever filed a claim under a trip insurance policy. We needed to cancel our trip to the Canadian Rockies because of the wildfires, and the state of emergency in British Columbia. In the long run, it was fine, as our trip was covered fully. But it was a bit off-putting that we could only communicate by email, and the information we received was very basic. The claims form only had a small comment block to explain what happened, with no examples or lists of what to submit. I put together a timeline and a set of 8 tabbed documents. In return, I got a request for additional documents--by blandly worded email--with no way to tell if our first submission was what was required. After each submission, the email said it would be about 10 business days for the next step. They tended to beat that schedule, but the uncertainty was always there. Today, I found out that our claim would be paid in full--we should get it in about 10 business days. So, all is well, but a bit of personal contact and explanation/reassurance about what to submit would have been nice. I have received that on my rare car or home owners' insurance claims.
