Part of our trip had to be cancelled because there was a ground crew strike at all Italian airports and our flight was cancelled and unable to be rebooked. The airline, hotel and car rental were all okay with refunds, but for our Trip to see the MotoGP races we had to dispute the charge with the credit card company. MotoGp won the dispute and so I claimed on the travel insurance our tickets. I filed a claim through online and after I was finished, it said it would email me the confirmation. I got no confirmation at all. So I have no claim number. About a week ago, I emailed someone with all of my policy information again and asked what is going on with the claim. I got an autoreply and again, no word from anyone. Unfortunately, I don;t have a lot of time to call during business hours and be put on hold. Can someone email me back and tell me what is going on? It said 15 business days, but i it has been well past that initial claim date. [email protected].

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company (“BHSIC”) is the underwriter and claim administrator for the policy you purchased. Travelex Insurance does not make claim determinations. We have contacted BHSIC and have been advised that your claim was received, and the examiner is working their queue in the order in which claims were received. They will contact you once the review has been done.
It is important to remember that insurance is highly regulated, and the policy purchased is a reimbursement policy for documented out of pocket financial losses incurred.

This is the 6th Time I have purchased a Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection ExactCare policy for international travel. The coverage stated is good.
I have never had a claim or needed travel assistance, so I cannot comment on customer service for claims or travel support.
The coverage for Medical Evacuation is important to me.
One type of coverage that I want, but cannot get, is losses from strikes.
Travel Protection Policies do NOT cover strikes. I have been stuck in a city from which I had planned to depart, but a sudden unplanned strike of rail and air options made those travel modes unavailable. Others in that city learned of the unplanned strike before me. All rental vehicles were rented, so I was stuck. Fortunately, I was able to return to my hotel for the period of that strike (due to holding their highest level in their frequent stayer program). However, I did lose several days of holiday travel and had to eliminate visits to 3 cities.

My wife broke her wrist a few days before our scheduled departure, so we were forced to cancel our trip on short notice. It was a little bit of a pain to upload all of the required documentation to make a claim, but I can understand why Generali needed it. Once I provided all the documentation, Generali paid the claim QUICKLY and IN FULL with no hassles. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! I will buy travel insurance from Generali for all future trips!
