I live overseas and I maintain a year-round plan that covers foreign travel. My commercial trip to Republic of Congo unexpectedly required exceptional evacuation coverage ($100,000). I had no idea how to meet that requirement on short notice and was pleased to find your programs could accommodate this. The premium seemed reasonable but I did not do comparison shopping. Dealing with you online was exceptionally easy and straightforward.

Since we didn't have to use the plan, I can't review how helpful it was. But I did think the price was reasonable, the service was great, and it seemed very professional. Just knowing that we had this evacuation only plan was comforting, as we were climbing over rocky terrain (big boulders) and one misstep could result in a bad ankle or shoulder, or worse. We were in the Galapagos, where rescue operations could be very costly, and I would recommend some kind of plan for anyone traveling there. But, as I said .... we never had to use it, and that's where the proof of the pudding lies.

I don't want to have to be evacuated from a foreign country because of a medical issue, so I don't want to use my insurance. That said, I feel reassured when I have a policy in place while I am traveling.

I had to file a claim for some minor medical expenses. It took too long and they wanted denials from my domestic health insurance, but waited weeks to ask. I protested through Insure My Trip that Medicare and United Health care don't cover such things and that I should not have to actually file claims based on this common knowledge. I was eventually reimbursed, but they took forever, even farming out translations of simple documents that they ought to be able to do in house.
