The insurance was not executed, so I cannot comment on its viability. However, the original trip was postponed by the tour provider. After a quick conversation with this insurer, I was able to use this policy for a future trip that was over a year away.

We experienced a travel delay of a week while in the UK and a new itinerary that involved a new plane flight. Our car rental for that week was not covered, but meals and lodging and new flight and missed nonrefundable lodging were covered. It took several months to resolve the claim and then paid promptly.

I was encouraged to file a claim per my telephone discussing with an AIG rep. The claim was denied since my policy did not cover such a problem. Why did the first rep not tell me that?? I had to go through all the procedure in filing when it could have been avoided from the beginning.

All insurance companies are great until you file a claim. It is only then one really knows if the company is good or not. I did not file a claim for a recent trip, but did for a trip that had to be cancelled earlier in the year. The result was not satisfactory for me.
