Fortunately, I did not have to file a claim as my trip went as planned. I would like to say that when purchasing, the agent listened carefully, asked pertinent questions, and quickly determined which plan was best for my proposed trip, and I was able to rest easy knowing I was covered in case things went wrong.

I don't see any reason trip insurance has to be as expensive as it is. I only bought it because the country to which I traveled has it as a requirement. That said, your website made it easy to shop and compare. But all the prices are way too high!

I didn't need to use the insurance so can't comment on how the company responds to claims. It was good knowing we had backup in case something went wrong on the trip.

We were disappointed that our request for compensation for one night's hotel stay was rejected out of hand because it was before the main trip. We took action to move two earlier connecting flights so that we could make the international flight on time. Our local airport was scheduled to close because of the impending snow storm on March 14. We took steps to mitigate the loss by taking an earlier flight. If we had been delayed for the 2 days that the airport was closed, there would have been major costs incurred which the insurer would have had to cover, plus we would have missed at least 4 days of our trip and an internal flight. The airline recognized the problem and waived the rebooking fees. We are disappointed that the insurer was not as reasonable.

Your Comprehensive plan premium was based on the age of the traveler, trip cost and the length of the trip. Your premium was 6.61% of your total trip cost which would match the industry standard.
That being said, you did an excellent job in selecting a policy since the AXA Gold plan included 100,000 USD in primary medical coverage. Despite the premium, you would have been very thankful for the coverage if you were unfortunately ill or injured.
