In my years of travels I have always selected Generali Global Assistance and even though my credit card provides travel insurance I chose the Premium plan to supplement it, fortunately I did not have to submit a claim, but it is always good to have the peace of mind in case something happens. Flight delays, lost of baggage are not fun! having travel insurance will determine if you will sleep on a dirty airport floor or on a comfortable bed at a hotel. Always get travel insurance!

I didn't need to use the plan since fortunately, all went well during our travels. It was reassuring to know we had the plan just in case. It is a shame that if you are older you have to pay considerably more for a plan. I'd love to be able to pay less for a basic plan instead of $1000.

I compared coverages online when choosing this company. It had the highest medical coverage, which I thought would be important. And the evacuation coverage was adequate. I gave high rating for coverage, although we did not have to use it.

So glad we had this--came back during gov't shut-down so good to have if flights to DC were cancelled. I assume(?) loss of flight due to this would have been covered.

Unfortunately, a government shutdown is not a covered reason for reimbursement under your Trip Interruption coverage, which is included in travel insurance comprehensive plans. Trip interruption is a benefit that offers travelers reimbursement of their pre-paid, non-refundable expenses should they unexpectedly need to cut their travels short.
However, there may have been coverage under Travel Delay which offers reimbursement for reasonable additional expenses incurred by you for lodging Accommodations, meals, telephone calls, local transportation, and additional vehicle parking charges and additional pet kennel fees incurred if you are delayed on your Trip for 8 hours or more. However like Trip Interruption, Travel Delay must also be caused by or result from a covered hazard as defined in the policy.Dec 28,2018

We paid over $1000 for a premium policy, then when my wife fractured her foot and we needed to incur cancellation expenses for some of our aggressive trip activities, we discovered you don't cover that situation. I haven't used trip insurance in the past and this taught me that it's still not worth it. I'll save a couple thousand a year in trip insurance costs, take my chances, and save money over the long run.

We did follow up with Generali who advised that you did not file a
claim but called to inquire about reimbursement for two nights of hotel
accommodations and taxi expenses to get you from one place to another while your three companions were hiking. However, these would not be covered expenses under your Travel Delay coverage since the cause of the additional expenses were for an injury sustained prior to coverage which began on your date of departure.
Generali did suggest that you may still wish to submit a claim for reimburse-ment of any prepaid non-refundable travel expenses. Please call the Generali claims department at (800) 541-3522 for additional information.Nov 30,2018
