Although i came down with diarehea i self medicated since i felt using the plan would have been more complicated. Nonetheless, having the plan gave me peace of mind in case i would have suffered a more serious medical need. In the end, though, it is hard for me to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of the plan other than to say that the premium for the services that i selected seemed more reasonable than those of several other plans that i had examined.

Primary medical is a great feature as is your choice of hospital if you to be evacuated.

I've purchased many Global Alert plans over the years and never had to make a claim until this May. I must say, the process was smooth and I received my check about 6 weeks after filing. I can finally actually "rate" them as very good for their service.
Before when I was asked to rate them and had no claim, I had no idea what to say! I'll keep buying Global Alert now that I know how well they handle claims. Thank you!

Global Alert did almost nothing on my claim until someone from Insuremytrip called them. They sent payment soon afterward. The claim was fairly settled but they dragged their feet until prodded.

I had a very difficult time speaking with a person at Global Alert--I'd call and wait on hold for 12 mintues and then be routed to a message machine. I left several messages that were not. Eventually, I did make contact, and my questions were answered. Global Alert then paid only 2/3 of the expenses I submitted. I had 3 week-long tours scheduled one after the other. The trip was interrupted early on--I had to come home and missed the first two tours, but was able to rejoin the 3rd one. Global Alert paid for the return airfare and the two cancelled tours, but denied coverage for the outbound airfare to join the 3rd tour, claiming that once I returned home, my coverage ended.

The best insuarance is the type one never needs to claim. That said, it was comforting to know that if the unexpected happened . I will use insuremytrip again for future travel insurance.

"When Your Coverage Ends:
Coverage is effective for the stated term shown in Your Confirmation of Benefits. In addition, Your coverage will end at 11:59 P.M. local time on the date which is the earliest of the following:
(a) the Scheduled Return Date as stated on the travel tickets;
(b) the date You return to Your origination point if prior to the Scheduled Return Date;
(c) the date You leave or change Your Covered Trip (unless due to Unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances covered
by the Policy);
(d) if You extend the return date, coverage will terminate at 11:59 P.M., local time, at Your location on the Scheduled Return Date;
(e) the date You cancel Your Covered Trip."
