As well as including trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage, the plan also includes baggage, travel delay, medical, emergency medical evacuation and accidental death and dismemberment coverages.

Although we didn't need this, we had peace of mind that we would have help if needed for this long trip planned months earlier. We needed to make a few minor changes (dates and cost coverage) and there was no problem doing that.

There was some terrorist activity going on the day we were suppose to leave for our trip. It involved Turkey but because this was not on our itinerary they would not allow us to cancel. Said it had to happen in one of our ports of call. When I asked how do we deal with getting back home if an attack happened she said you would pay up front and submit for refund when get home. So bottom line is you better have a lot of credit available. Not at all like I thought it would work.

I'd like to find an "ala carte" coverage plan as the comprehensive plans provide me with things I already have such as medical coverage and luggage loss.

As you could see from our website, our Comprehensive plans are the only plans that offer Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans automatically include Baggage, Baggage Delay, Travel Delay, Medical and Emergency Medical Evacuation which cannot be deleted. However we offer Comprehensive plans from 25 of the leading providers of travel insurance so, if you sort the plans by "Cost low to high", you can narrow down your choices to some of the lowest priced policies which generally include the lowest Baggage and Medical limits.Nov 10,2015

I had gotten a quote on insurance and was giving information to the other couple we were traveling with. Went back in a week later to buy the plan, which I got a quote on, and because my husband and I had a birthday within that week the quote was deemed not valid because our age changed and the price went up over $125.00!.

The three biggest factors in determining the cost of a comprehensive travel insurance policy are: the cost of the trip, the length of travel and the ages of the travelers. If a traveler has a birthday between the time they receive a quote and the time they purchase the plan, the cost of the plan may increase.

Every company should be judged by how they handle situations when problems arise. Since I had no claims to submit, I am unable to judge how this company resolves matters. However, I was impressed by the website as it was easy to navigate, compare policies, and make my purchase.

I didn't file a claim for this trip, but I did for the trip we had planned for July 2015 to Iceland. We were sent a claim form with clear instructions for completion. We were totally satisfied with the way our claim was handled and will continue to use InsureMyTrip for our future travels.

With respect to getting home if a terrorist attack occurred during the trip, as InsureAssist indicated, you would pay up front and be reimbursed later, but it is also important to note and that saving documentation, receipts, etc. would be critical.
In the future, you may wish to call us at 800-487-4722 for quotes since there are plans that provide broader definitions of coverage as well as plans that offer Cancel for Any Reason coverage.
