We bought the insurance for hurricane coverage, ended up needing to leave a day early due to forecasted landfall of Dorian. Covered the unused night at the condo, the only loss of the trip.

When we scheduled our trip , we had purchased insurance through insure my trip with John Hancock. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to cancel our planned trip. I contacted the insurance company and they were very helpful in instructing me with the needed documentation and follow up, We are awaiting the refund which we have been told will be arriving shortly,

A plan of this nature cannot be accurately evaluated until one needs to file a claim (that I didn't need to do) - so is a bit difficult to be objective about. However, the one interaction I had with Customer Service via phone was incredibly pleasant and painless. I would definitely consider purchasing this sort of plan from this company again.

During our cruise my wife had a slight injury at the gym with her knee.. We didn't see a doctor as nothing could have been done on the ship. So we rapped it up and hoped it would get better in a few days. As soon as we got home I called the insurance company so we can get some treatment at home.. I was told if we didn't go to a doctor while on our trip it would not be covered and a claim would be a waste of time.. Nonsense, that's why we buy insurance and did not want to use it on the ship as it would be a waste of money for the insurance company..So anytime you have any injuries go to a doctor while on your trip for the records.. Will not use them again..

The John Hancock Silver plan provides coverage up to 100,000 USD per person for unforeseen, accidental injuries or emergency illnesses which first occur during the trip, and are treated by a physician during the trip. If medical treatment is not obtained during the trip, and the traveler waits until returning home to the United States, the travel insurance expires and you will be responsible for the medical bills.     Thank you for your review. The premiums of the policies are determined by the insurance providers. The premiums are based on the age of the travelers, the length of the trip and the cost of the trip. As travelers get older, it can cause the premiums to increase. At this time, due to insurance laws, travel insurance cannot be discounted ore rebated. Like all other types of insurance, such as auto and home, once a policy has ended the policy is deemed used and premium nonrefundable, whether there was a claim filed or not.
