The Silver plan is the mid-level policy offered by John Hancock and may be ideal for families traveling with children, as kids 17 and under are free as long as one parent is covered under the plan. Coverage is offered if you have to cancel or interrupt your trip for a typical covered reason which can range from an unforeseen illness, injury or death to your destination being made uninhabitable by a natural disaster. The Silver plan does offer higher limits of coverage than the Bronze plan for Baggage, Travel Delay, Medical and Emergency Medical Evacuation.

During our cruise my wife had a slight injury at the gym with her knee.. We didn't see a doctor as nothing could have been done on the ship. So we rapped it up and hoped it would get better in a few days. As soon as we got home I called the insurance company so we can get some treatment at home.. I was told if we didn't go to a doctor while on our trip it would not be covered and a claim would be a waste of time.. Nonsense, that's why we buy insurance and did not want to use it on the ship as it would be a waste of money for the insurance company..So anytime you have any injuries go to a doctor while on your trip for the records.. Will not use them again..

    We are sorry to learn of the accidental injury that your wife suffered. The John Hancock Silver plan provides coverage up to 100,000 USD per person for unforeseen, accidental injuries or emergency illnesses which first occur during the trip, and are treated by a physician during the trip. If medical treatment is not obtained during the trip, and the traveler waits until returning home to the United States, the travel insurance expires and you will be responsible for the medical bills.     Thank you for your review. The premiums of the policies are determined by the insurance providers. The premiums are based on the age of the travelers, the length of the trip and the cost of the trip. As travelers get older, it can cause the premiums to increase. At this time, due to insurance laws, travel insurance cannot be discounted ore rebated. Like all other types of insurance, such as auto and home, once a policy has ended the policy is deemed used and premium nonrefundable, whether there was a claim filed or not. Like any other insurance, one never knows how good the coverage is until you need it! Fortunately, I did not require any claims. It seemed to be a good policy for my individual situation. It was comforting knowing I had this policy as a back up.

I have been a customer of Insure My Trip for several years and purchased this plan on their recommendation.
We had to file a claim and these folks are extremely unprofessional.Eventually, they paid the claim in full but I would not recommend John Hancock Company company to anyone.
I fault John Hancock and not Insure My Trip who I will continue to do business with in the future.

Agents assisted me a lot when I called and it is VERY MUCH appreciated. I coordinated the Hancock Silver Plan with existing coverage from one of my credit cards. I saved a lot! Thankfully, no claim. Trip was great. Please reward the fine agents who guided me on the phone. Truly professional!
