The Silver plan is the mid-level policy offered by John Hancock and may be ideal for families traveling with children, as kids 17 and under are free as long as one parent is covered under the plan. Coverage is offered if you have to cancel or interrupt your trip for a typical covered reason which can range from an unforeseen illness, injury or death to your destination being made uninhabitable by a natural disaster. The Silver plan does offer higher limits of coverage than the Bronze plan for Baggage, Travel Delay, Medical and Emergency Medical Evacuation.

Did not file a claim even though the cruise ship ruined my husband's carry on suitcase handle. Didn't realize it until we got home. Grabbed it at terminal and put in car and headed home. Didn't check it over then. Our fault. So can't file with insurance or the cruise line as it's to late now.

During our cruise my wife had a slight injury at the gym with her knee.. We didn't see a doctor as nothing could have been done on the ship. So we rapped it up and hoped it would get better in a few days. As soon as we got home I called the insurance company so we can get some treatment at home.. I was told if we didn't go to a doctor while on our trip it would not be covered and a claim would be a waste of time.. Nonsense, that's why we buy insurance and did not want to use it on the ship as it would be a waste of money for the insurance company..So anytime you have any injuries go to a doctor while on your trip for the records.. Will not use them again..

The insurance covered exactly what we needed - pre-existing medical and cancel for any reason (school schedules). The insuremytrip.com agent was knowledgeable and extremely helpful in finding the right policy to cover us.

Did not have to use. At age 71 and on a cruise, one needs peace of mind. Hancock Silver plan is the way to go.

Didn't need to use the plan, so hard to say much other than it seemed well priced for what you received in coverage and receiving / managing the coverage credentials was easy. The insure my trip app that had the plan loaded into it was great.
Obviously the hope is you never need to use it and it's only insurance. Would likely buy again depending on current rates and coverages.

After having purchased my travel insurance through the cruise lines for the last several years (& 5 previous cruises, with 2 different lines) I heard about insuremytrip via a FB page for Carnival cruisers & decided to check it out for my last cruise 11/5-13, 2016. I compared the coverages & pricing of the various companies available there vs what Carnival offered & was pleasantly surprised with the one I ended up choosing, John Hancock's Silver level plan, which is what I ended up purchasing for myself & my 2 adult sons who traveled with me (we drove from MI to Miami where we boarded the ship for our 8 day Southern Caribbean cruise). We did not end up needing to file a claim, thankfully, however, I will ABSOLUTELY purchase future travel insurance from John Hancock via insuremytrip again for our future cruise (& other) vacations & I have already recommended them to my parents who are frequent cruisers as well (primarily with Princess, where they are Elite level, but are also Platinum with Carnival) & know that they plan to purchase from you in the future as well. I have also recommended JH to other friends as well as people on that aforementioned FB page, my own FB page, as well as Cruise Critic. 100% satisfied! :-)

We are sorry to learn of the accidental injury that your wife suffered. The John Hancock Silver plan provides coverage up to 100,000 USD per person for unforeseen, accidental injuries or emergency illnesses which first occur during the trip, and are treated by a physician during the trip. If medical treatment is not obtained during the trip, and the traveler waits until returning home to the United States, the travel insurance expires and you will be responsible for the medical bills.
