The Silver plan is the mid-level policy offered by John Hancock and may be ideal for families traveling with children, as kids 17 and under are free as long as one parent is covered under the plan. Coverage is offered if you have to cancel or interrupt your trip for a typical covered reason which can range from an unforeseen illness, injury or death to your destination being made uninhabitable by a natural disaster. The Silver plan does offer higher limits of coverage than the Bronze plan for Baggage, Travel Delay, Medical and Emergency Medical Evacuation.

My trip needed to be cancelled which should have been covered under the "cancel for any reason" provision that I paid for. I submitted all of the documents asked for and received a response that they were received. It's 2 months later and finally a settlement. The coverage may be OK for the price, but the customer service is very poor. Think twice about purchasing this plan.

Well worth the piece of mind to have. We didn't need to file a claim, but I researched and read many reviews on this policy/company and was very confident that it wouldn't have been a problem if we'd had to file one. I'd buy this policy from the same company again.

Obtaining the plan was easy since it was clearly spelled out. With everything else to do for a last minute trip it was nice not to have to spend hours researching the plans. I will most likely use the same plan in the future.
