Fortunately, I did not have to file a claim. I did have peace of mind knowing that if anything happened I would not be out of a lot of money. The representatives I dealt with both online and over the phone were knowledgeable and helpful. I would purchase a policy from them again.

Due to flooding and high water on the river - weather and safety concerns required that we fly into a safer starting point for our insured trip. The required safety was an additional flight of $120/pp and this was not covered.

    Thank you for bringing your situation to our attention. We all agree that finding that there is no coverage for a specific loss under a policy would never be a happy experience.

    Travel Delay, which required a minimum of a 6 hour delay, under your TripAssure policy would have only reimbursed you for those additional expenses due to defined Hazards as listed in your policy:

    “Hazard” means:
    a) any delay of a Common Carrier (including Inclement Weather);
    b) any delay by a traffic accident en route to a departure, in which You or Your Traveling Companion is directly
    or not directly involved;
    c) any delay due to lost or stolen passports, travel documents or money, quarantine, hijacking, unannounced strike, Natural Disaster, civil commotion or riot;
    d) severe storms that cause a route closing validated by the National Weather Service records and local Department of Transportation Records.

    Since your additional expense was not a result of a defined Hazard, TripAssure declined your claim.

I purchased this MH Ross plan because it was the cheapest available that included a Cancel-for-any-reason benefit that I wanted on my hotwire.com nonrefundable hotel room reservation. Unfortunately my plans did end up changing so I had to file a claim.

I figured since this was a cancel-for-any-reason claim it would be pretty fast, but it wasn't really. They received the claim on July 11, I heard nothing until Aug 6th, where they said I needed to get a confirmation from Hotwire showing the room was cancelled without a refund. Got that and e-mailed it to them on the same day.

Didn't hear anything until Aug 18th, when they said it was only going to be paid based on half the room cost, because on my hotwire confirmation it said 2 people (I simply forgot to change their default booking option on the site, but the price is the same whether its 1 or 2 people as they are all based on double occupancy). So obviously I disputed that, and they said they would research it and get back to me. Not hearing anything I e-mailed Insuremytrip for assistance on the 21st, and that's all it took. Got a call from a customer advocate that same day saying its all been resolved. Got a call from MH Ross the next day saying the final payment is in the system and I'll be getting a check in a few weeks.

Definitely glad everything worked out, although I do feel like this should have gone much quicker, especially for a cancel-for-any-reason claim which doesn't involve getting medical records, etc. I applaud Insuremytrip for having a great customer advocate program, I'll keep coming back for that reason alone.

We had to pay extra for the feature we wanted (due to a bad experience with a previous insurer). It would be nice to be offered a partial refund if no claims were made.

    Seriously, you wanted a "refund" because you didn't file a claim? That's the point of insurance. You pay even if you don't use it, so that those less fortunate then you apparently we are spared inordinate pain.

I missed my flight for thanksgiving due to back pain. Thank god I have started taking insurance for my trips and this is the first time I had to use it. You have wonderful service, very easy to claim and very friendly and helpful customer service. Pleasure doing business with you.
