I had a bad head cold and was unable to participate in a prepaid unrefundable scuba diving day. The dive operater wrote a receipt, signed with her contact email address to verify the legitimacy of the incident. But because I was not "evaluated by a physician" it would not be worth filing.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you were ill during your trip. You bring up an excelent point about travel insurance. When becoming ill or injured, while on a trip, it is necessary to seek medical attention while on your trip in order to have coverages such as interruption and medical expenses reimbursed through your insurance coverage. Also, be sure to get copies of medical records and an itemized receipt. Don't forget that you can always call the 24-hour emergency assistance number for guidance. They are there for more than just emergencies and can provide other services as well.Mar 04,2015

After filing a claim for a cancelled trip, our experience with this company was terrible. We continually had to call them to track the claim and every time they would say we needed to send more paperwork. Some receipts we sent them 4 times. We even had one of the tour operators email us to ask why they kept asking him for the same information. It took about 6 months for us to get about half of our money back. The one good thing I will say is about InsureMyTrip, who stepped in to help us at one point and were great to deal with.

We are sorry to learn that you were dissatisfied with the claims service. We apologize on behalf of the claims administrator that your claim took an unusually long time to process, and that you were repeatedly asked to provide documentation that had already been submitted. Depending upon the complexity of the claim, and how readily available the claims documentation is, claims processing should take anywhere between 3-8 weeks.Mar 18,2015 -

Fortunately, the dive resort in Belize we were going to, strongly recommended trip insurance. Unfortunately, my husband developed a hernia and needed surgery. He would not have been able to participate in the scheduled trip activities. He is a very healthy, active guy. The trip needed to be cancelled for all 5 of the insured travelers. We needed to use travel insurance for the first time ever. The claims administrator was thorough, communicative, and helpful. I thought the reimbursement was very fair, it covered just about everything. They ask for quite a bit of documentation, so be thorough with your paper work. I can't blame them. I would use them again in a heart beat! In fact, I'm booking my next trip and will call InsureMyTrip for coverage, instead of the company the tour operator suggested.

This plan offers a broad scope of coverage and protection, such as emergency medical evacuation, which can be quite costly on a cruise ship. I can say that at a reasonable price, you are able to purchase peace of mind. Therefore, I feel this plan was valuable and is a good idea.
