Even though we did not have to use the insurance just knowing that we had coverage was wonderful. Compared to the insurance that was offered by our cruise company this was a savings. I will always check with InsureMyTrip before traveling.

A month after submission of a very well documented claim, I called for a status since the online claim tracker hadn't moved for two weeks. No one answered; however, the voice mail said someone would call back within 24 hours. No one did, but I got the same "will call you back within 24 hours" message. Again, no answer. I called again and actually got a person. They found my claim and said it would be expedited and I would hear from her in 3 workdays. At the 5 workday point, I called again and was told the claim was being reviewed and should be completed shortly. Evidently the claims work overwhelmed the available staff and everything was behind. Finally, after 2 1/2 months, the claim was paid.

We employ a Customer Advocate Program which specializes in contacting the insurance company on the customers behalf to help resolve the claim.

    The following is a statement issues by the claims administrator:

    “Thank you for writing a review and making us aware of your negative experience with your claim. I understand you are dissatisfied with the time it took for your claim to be paid and our communication during the claims process. You are correct, you filed a very well documented claim, and Trip Mate did not process your claim quickly. Our goal is to process your claim within 10 business days once all documentation is received, and we failed to achieve this goal with your claim. Being responsive and communicating clearly is a priority for our customer service team, and we fell short of this, as well. We agree that it is unacceptable to promise a call back and not fulfill that commitment. Please accept my sincere apologies for the frustration associated with your claim. We truly appreciate you sharing this feedback because your experience will help us improve our training and better assist other travelers.”

I was pleased that I didn't have to purchase the trip cancellation policy as that increases the price of the insurance by $300. or more. Your agents should make customers aware of this because otherwise, I wouldn't have purchased any insurance. The coverage of lost baggage and health insurance while traveling is most important to me.

    Typically, comprehensive policies are used to insure the cost of one's trip. Many policies, such as the MH Ross Advantage Bridge plan, may be purchased without insuring a trip cost. If a trip cost is provided in the quote form, then trip cancellation will be included in the comprehensive policies. Your trip cost will determine your trip cancellation and trip interruption limits as well as your comprehensive policy premium. In the future, you can state that you are not looking for trip cancellation coverage and enter a zero in the trip cost section.

I didn't have to use the plan. However, I felt very secure having this plan with me as I travelled. The price was exceptional in comparison to other plans I reviewed.
