I have no complaints whatsoever. I hated like crazy that we ended up with a claim and we were required to submit quite a bit of info, our trip expenses were covered much to our relief. I will use them from this day forward for every trip and hope like crazy there are no issues. Thanks Nationwide you were on our side. :)

Ended up cancelling trip due to medical emergency. Forms were promptly provided that provided clear instructions with several options for submission. Claim was paid within stated response time without unnecessary interaction.

When I purchased the plan I had paid for the air fare and the deposit on the tour portion. Since I was anxious to have pre-existing medical condition coverage I immediately purchased the insurance, with the understanding that I could increase the face value amount of the policy when I paid for the remainder of the trip. However, when I paid for the remainder of the trip and contacted you to appropriately increase my coverage, the cost of the additional insurance was at a much much higher rate - frankly unbelievable - and there was nothing I could do so I paid it. I was held hostage in order to have pre-existing condition converage. I am sure that the insurance was good and was valuable, but its COST was prohibitive, unreasonable, and took very bad advantage of me.

I bought "cancel for any reason" trip insurance. The tour company I was going with went out of business. Nationwide denied my claim saying the reason wasn't a covered expense! Even though I paid extra for "cancel for any reason" insurance. The tour company went out of business! I resubmitted the claim and they paid it, but only at 75%. I should have read the policy more carefully - 75% when you buy their best insurance policy isn't acceptable.

We are sorry to hear that Nationwide initially denied your claim. As the claims representative stated, there is no coverage under Trip Cancellation in the Nationwide Prime plan if your travel provider goes out of business.
However, you did purchase the optional "Cancel for Any Reason" coverage which reimburses you if you cancel your trip for "other than a covered reason".
As you stated, travelers should always take time to review the policy terms and conditions. None of the plans on our website offer Cancel for Any Reason at 100 per cent reimbursement. Each insurance provider determines their own rates subject to the approval of the state's insurance department. Many of our providers do not use a flat rate. Some providers charge a higher rate at the lower range of trip cost, while other providers charge a higher rate at the upper ranges of trip cost. We generally encourage our customers to quote at your total expected trip cost so you can review the final premium in advance.
