I buy trip insurance for two coverages; medical cost incurred outside the USA and medical evacuation back to the USA. The rest of the insurance is nice but not the deciding factor.

Plan was purchased because it provided coverage for 5 specific things I was concerned about. Good thing I did my research because we did end up having to file a $600 claim for a covered event. The claim was approved after about three weeks which is a bit longer than I would have wanted, but in all fairness, I felt it was a reasonable amount of time since the claim was submitted right after hurricanes Irma and Maria and I imagine they had a multitude of other claims to process in addition to mine.
