While RoamRight eventually paid the claim and once they decided to pay, the check came quickly, the process was not smooth and we had to involve the Customer Advocacy assistant through Insuremytrip. Contacting them while on the trip yielded no help and we had to schedule our own flights back. They initially denied my claim, but did not state that til 5 weeks after sending all documentation. They then initially denied another part of the claim two more times. Through the whole process, they NEVER once called me, if I called them they gave a blanket statement, and if you clicked on contact about your claim and sent an email- they NEVER once responded to it. It took almost 4 months to resolve a simple claim of an injury while traveling that required returning to the United States for surgery on a minor child. I have used trip insurance many times- fortunately have not had to submit claims often- but the other time I have it was a MUCH more easier process and they were very receptive.

I never had to use the insurance, which I'm happy about. But that means I don't know how well it would have worked had I needed it. But it did give me peace of mind.

I actually used this insurance. My friend and I were going to Costa Rica but she got metastatic liver cancer, stage 4, within 2 months of us leaving and could no longer walk. Arch travel insurance did refund our expenses. It took A LOT of paper work, i.e. Doctors notes, all cancelled plans and hotel reservations, multiple emails, snail mail, phone calls. I understand why they need the forms to prevent scamming, but we did jump thru multiple hoops. I would use this insurance company again..they did pay. When you use insurance, please remember to save all receipts, Doctor forms, etc because you will need them. However, all insurance travel companies do this. They were very polite on the phone and I would use them again.

Even though we did not have an medical travel emergencies, we were glad we had this plan as it helped with peace of mind. During my vacation, I helped with a couple of minor medical emergencies (jelly fish treatment, minor cut on leg). Had the emergency been more serious that my mini first aid kit, each injured person would have needed travel insurance. Better to have travel insurance and not need it than need it and not have it.

We always purchase insurance when we travel. This was the first time we had to file a claim of any type. This was the first time we used RoamRight. My husband required surgery which necessitated the cancellation of our trip. The claim was processed with a minimum amount of paperwork and resolved in an expeditious manner. Our family traveled to Costa Rica for two weeks and bought the insurance to be safe. We had a relative that was in poor heath and older parents and we just wanted to know if something did happen our money would not be lost. Two days prior to the trip I became ill and spent the night in the hospital and thought we might have to cancel the trip. Thank goodness all worked out and we enjoyed our trip and never need to use the insurance.

"the policy is purchased within 21 days of the initial Trip deposit.
