I was under the impression that if we had to cancel for any reason (which is the plan we had) that we could do so. Getting paperwork, countless emails etc. was not what I had expected. My daughter could not make the trip due to her job situation and her husband being accepted into the fire academy. Due to the shortage of nurses, she was unable to obtain the paperwork (tried several times) because her supervisor was so overwhelmed with the work load. Needless to say, it did not get done and we lost $$. When you advertise for any reason, you should not have to go through hoops to get paperwork etc.

I was glad to have the medical coverage abroad in case of a medical emergency as it provided peace of mind. Fortunately, all was well the entire trip. Like having a fire extinguisher in your home, you have no intentions of using it but if you have to, you have it.

I have very mixed feeling about travel insurance but alter losing luggage on a previous trip several years ago, I decided I would take my tour arranger's advice and get it. I did not insure with the company she recommended but instead checked out other companies, some in person (AAA) and on line. I found InsureMyTrip online and noted that the coverage was very good , being able to compare 8 different plans over several companies. This one was about $100 cheaper for my wife and I and we feel the coverage was equal or better than most, and covered all our concerns and provided peace of mind in the area we were travelling. But of course we did not need it because everything was fine so my fiscally conservative mind says we wasted our dollars. I think it would be a good marketing tool if the companies would give us a 25% rebate if we did not file any claims. That would make me feel better, although having it gave us great peace of mind. I just hate to pay good money for products I do not use. I am cheap and hate add costs to our trips but found InsureMyTrip easier to swallow than if I had paid another $100 for a different plan and didn't use it. The comparison site was very valuable to use for comparison of different plans.

As i didn't file any claims, it's impossible to rate how good or bad the policy I purchased would prove to be. However, the policy did cover everything that I wanted and it was purchased at a fair price for my age (70's).

However, Cancel for Any Reason does not mean that there is no need for you to file the necessary paperwork. All insurance providers including RoamRight will still require:
Claim Form,
Trip Invoice/Confirmation
Proof of payment and
Documentation showing any received or expected settlements, refunds, or credits.
However, you do not need to provide a reason to cancel the trip.
