Myanmar has poor hospital facilities, especially in the rural areas - the bulk of the country. Anyone going should definitely get the medical evacuation coverage, to cover the costs of getting to Thailand, Singapore, or home. There was someone on the boat that developed kidney stones with blockage. He had to be transported 7 hours to a suitable hospital. I hope he had appropriate travel insurance.

As I am older, I feel more secure traveling with travel insurance, although I have never had a need to use it. I do feel that the plan I purchased was a good buy for the money.
