When my wife broke her arm a few weeks before our trip we had to cancel and were able to successfully utilize the Trip Cancellation coverage.
The policy did cover the value of Chase points used to pay for the non-refundable flights which was good and what I expected but was not certain of. Chase would have covered via secondary if needed but it was not needed.
I felt they were a bit slow in processing and stated a 30 day processing time which seemed a bit excessive. They also did not cover the non-refundable costs of Visas which were several hundred dollars and a bit surprising to me. They used an exclusion for government regulations as the reason but that seems pretty lame to me. This is trip cancellation coverage and Visa costs are something that are foreseeable and should be covered.

I'd like to thank fellow travelers who shared their comments which assisted with my purchase. I spent a ridiculous amount of time choosing the policy for my Daughter and I, a policy we never needed to use, but each time I nearly fell on uneven sidewalks in Vietnam, or missed a step at a temple in Thailand, or thought this elephant just has to make one false move...The insurance allowed me to be free to say yes to the experience. I did agonize over what seemed like so many choices, contacted the extremely patient and knowledgeable Insure My Trip Representatives several times, and finally decided upon Travelex Select. My Employer reportedly covers me anywhere in the world, however what I believe is that with any insurance, I would be responsible to pay up front for medical needs or evacuation then be reimbursed after the fact. I spent a lot of time exploring the "cancel for any reason" then decided not to get this as there seemed to be a lot of headaches associated with this option. As advised, I made a hard copy of the policy, kept the important #'s with us at all times, and had a blast!

The only problem with this insurance is that there is no compensation for a 3+ day delay of one of my bags when I returned home. Luckily, it was on my return home, but I think having not received my bag for this long period of time, with no compensation (even minimal) is wrong. They do not cover travel delay for arrival at the return place which makes sense, but still - having a bag missing that long is a total inconvenience and you would think that travel insurance would at least have some way to address it.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that your bags were delayed on the return journey. Baggage Delay benefits are designed to cover replacement of personal necessities when baggage is delayed by common carrier during outbound travel or during segments of your onward journey, but does not include coverage for the return trip to home or your final destination ending the trip. This is the industry standard.
We strongly recommend customers read the terms and conditions of the policy within the review period to determine if the policy fits your needs. I paid a lot of money for the plan. I was in a great deal of pain and unable to keep up on the trip. But I wasn't sure if I could get my money back and change my plane flight home, so I stuck with it and didn't really enjoy myself. I would have liked the name of someone to call from Asia to see if I could come back after the first week when the pain was really interrupting my trip. Just having a card with a number did not make me feel I would get the support I needed to make the change in itinerary.

We are sorry to learn of discomfort that you suffered during your trip. The Travelex Travel Select policy does offer the following covered reason for Trip Interruption (found in your Summary of Benefits):
"(a) Any serious Injury, death, or Sickness;
(1) Occurring to You or a Traveling Companion, a Family Member traveling with You, that is so disabling as to cause a reasonable person to cancel or interrupt their Trip or which results in medically imposed restrictions as certified by a Physician at the time of Loss preventing your continued participation in the Trip;"

Thank you for your feedback. Travelex does have 24 hour emergency assistance which includes a number that you are able to call collect when you are outside the US.
Your plan also does have extension of coverage as follows:
All coverages under the plan will be extended if your entire Covered Trip is covered by the plan and your return is delayed by unavoidable circumstances beyond your control.
If coverage is extended for the above reasons, coverage will end on the earlier of the date you reach your originally scheduled return destination or seven (7) days after the Scheduled Return Date. In no event will coverage be extended due to voluntary reasons without prior consent from Travelex Insurance Services.
