I had to cancel our trip due to an illness that prevented travel which occurred prior to our scheduled departure. The claim representative who I spoke to was friendly and helpful. She emailed me the necessary claim forms and emphasized that I should be sure to submit all of the requested documents to enable the claim examiner to make a decision. I submitted all of the documents by email. Within less than 30 days I received 2 checks in the mail (1 for me and 1 for my husband) reimbursing us for the full amount of the trip. I would highly recommend Nationwide and insuremytrip.com.

I thought it was easy to compare and buy travel insurance plans and I felt like I was provided with all the information I needed to make a good decision. Thankfully, we did not need to make a claim, but I felt comfortable that if something did come up, we were covered.

since i have not needed to file a claim, my main happiness with this policy is the reputation of the provider blue cross and the coverage provided - for less than $120 usd per person for a year coverage. we have 3 trips planned so this is $40 per person per trip. yes it is only medical but look at what you get for $40 from other trip insurance companies. my bags and the cost of my non refundable tickets are covered by my credit card but not a $100k usd med evac or $50k non usa doc. i sleep better at night with this coverage.

The ability to review, compare and select a plan from a wide variety of offerings is very helpful, particularly if you are over 65. Fortunately, we didn't have to make a claim so that aspect is an unknown. It would be even more helpful if insuremytrip had a separate (or easily accessable) listing of reviews for those who went through the claim process.

Travel Guard MedEvac Plan
We have purchased AIG Travel Guard MedEvac Plan many times over the past. Fortunately, we did not have to use it on this trip. However, we have had to use it in the past. Twice, a family member had a serious medical problem and we used the services to help. The help we received while on the trip was efficient. The claims process, when we returned, was easy to understand and fair. We would definitely recommend AIG for travel insurance.
