Crum & Forster - Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Lite

The Crum & Forster - Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Lite plan is the most budget-friendly plan offered by this company. This comprehensive travel insurance plan is the most basic coverage of their three plans.

This policy includes coverage for trip cancellation and interruption, if you should need to cancel prior to departure or interrupt your trip due to an unforeseen covered reason. Benefits for baggage loss or delay as well as delay of travel are also provided.

The emergency medical coverage and emergency medical evacuation benefits on this plan default to standard limits. However, if you would like to increase the coverage limits, you are able to add the optional medical upgrade to your plan for an additional premium (available in most states). This upgrade does not affect any other coverages except the medical-related ones.

I did not need to use the plan's services, but I will definitely use it on other trips and recommend it to others. Thank you.

Thank you for your welcome and thank you for your support. I consider myself fortunate since I do not need to file a claim, which was my expectation. As most people, I applied for coverage just in case it was needed. When I applied for coverage, I considered your rate fair, but later on I learned from another member in my group, that she had coverage for half the price I got from you. Yes, it hurt. Her agent also searched for the best rate, as you do, so I must admit that it leaves me wondering.

Read the Fine Print, which is difficult because it's long and confusing. I've bought many policies over the years, and thankfully have only had to file a claim once before when the vacation rental we booked was damaged due to flooding. On this trip, our flight was delayed 30+ hours and we spent it at the airport waiting for another airplane. We missed one night of our prepaid hotel room which was $800+. I guess I was naive to believe that the trip insurance would cover the cost of an unused prepaid hotel room. They reimbursed us for trip a trip delay, which is $100 max per person, per day. I was under the presumption that trip delay was for additional hotel/food expenses due to trip delay, but not for prepaid lodging. Apparently their is no reimbursement for unused prepaid lodging with the plan I purchased, which wasn't cheap, by the way. It was my mistake not to read the fine print (or perhaps understand it), so I'm writing this to make sure others don't experience the same disappointment I'm experiencing right now. And when I called to inquire about the result of the claim, they we not helpful, friendly or courteous.
