MH Ross Advantage Bridge

The MH Ross Advantage Bridge plan offers higher coverage limits than the Advantage Asset Plus plan, starting with trip interruption coverage. This plan offers reimbursement up to 150% of the insured trip cost in the event that you have to interrupt your trip after departure for one of the listed covered reasons. The additional 50% can be helpful in the event you have additional expenses for an emergency one-way ticket to get back home.

While the plan also includes standard comprehensive travel insurance benefits such as baggage protection, travel delay, medical and emergency medical evacuation, it also includes (or allows you to add-on) benefits that make it stand out from the rest.

For instance, the plan includes a Cancel for Work Reasons benefit. This can be beneficial if you have invested in travel, but your prior approved personal time off at work is suddenly revoked. There are a few coverage conditions you should be aware of so please read the full certificate for more details.

This plan also includes missed connection benefits. If you are delayed on route to your cruise or tour departure due to a covered reason of three hours or more, you may be eligible for missed connection coverage. This can reimburse you for the cost of meeting your cruise or tour at the next stop.

The plan does allow for some customization. You can decided whether or not to add-on the optional coverages to expand the personal property coverage and sports activity coverage. The personal property coverage can add to your baggage protection, especially if you are traveling with covered business equipment. And the sports activity coverage can help to expand your covered reasons for medical care in case of an injury while taking part in certain sports activities while traveling.

To get the most benefits from this plan, it is best to purchase within 15 days after making your initial trip deposit. If you purchase within that time frame and meet all eligibility requirements, the pre-existing condition exclusion will be waived for medical care coverage.

Thankfully I did not use it.

I've never purchased a health policy for a trip before but someone had mentioned it and I was pleasantly surprised how inexpensive it was. One less thing to worry about ~ especially when traveling alone in a foreign country.

I didn't file a claim, so I don't know how their customer service performs. But I found the plan very expensive. Four our trip to Africa, I got a policy that covers preexisting conditions, so I needed to insure every penny. When I realized the exchange rate made our costs just inch over the amount I insured for, I was honest and called MH Ross to increase the total. Those few extra dollars cost me an extra $150 to insure! I was pretty incensed, but paid it anyway, as I didn't want to take a risk they wouldn't cover us if something happened. But that is just ridiculous. They could have made an allowance for exchange rate changes.
