The main problem in reviewing insurance policies is that one hopes to not need it. We did not use ANY of the benefits, but there were definitely times I was glad to know the coverage was there.

At one point, we were told our airline was on strike. This proved incorrect, but we didn't worry too much because we had the trip interruption coverage. If the airline had actually been on strike, would we really have been covered? This is where the rubber meets the road. There might be an exclusion for strikes (it's hard to remember all the fine print) and the coverage might have turned out to be insufficient to cover all our costs. It's hard to know if we never file a claim.

The policy seemed to have reasonable coverage for flight delays, cancellations, sickness and car rental, which were our main concerns

My biggest concern is maintaining the cancel-for-any-reason and the pre-condition-waiver benefits. I keep detailed track of all non-refundable expenses on the day we leave, but these can sometimes be difficult to calculate and I can imagine the company finding some little cost that I either missed or didn't calculate properly and voiding our coverage. Insurance companies like to collect money but don't like giving it up. Again, without filing a claim, a review is pointless.

My wife and I are residents of different states but travel together and I feel we should be able to purchase one policy instead of 2. We had an issue with a car malfunction that was not covered and I feel it should have been.

    Travelers residing in different states should be covered under separate plans. Travel insurance is governed by state laws which are often very different from state to state impacting the policy terms and conditions. You are also required to have separate insurance plans if you have different dates of travel since occasionally travelers may be leaving and/or returning on different dates.

    Travel insurance also includes Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption which would reimburse you if you must cancel or interrupt your trip due to covered reasons that are specifically listed in the plan. The number one covered reason in most plans is the unexpected sickness, injury or death of you, your traveling companion and your family member, but there are other covered reasons which vary from plan to plan. However, no plan includes canceling due to a car malfunction, so you would have needed to purchase the Cancel for Any Reason option.

Your review is not geared to having a claim so I don't want to give other would be customers a thumbs up when I have no idea how the claim would go. I will say this though, I called and spoke to your claims rep who was curt and annoyed when I was just inquiring about the possibility of a claim. If she is an indication of who I would get in the case of having an actual claim then I am concerned. And I don't like it that you ask me to review when I've never had a claim because the choices for my answers are at best insufficient and give the wrong impression that I'm a satisfied customer -- the last one, "Would you recommend..." well, I really don't know but you don't give me that option as a choice, the proof is when you have a claim and how you're treated and if you're taken care of after spending the money.

Fortunately I didn't need to invoke the coverage, so I'll never know just how good it really was. On the other hand, it's disturbing to find out just how bad one's own regular, and expensive, health plan actually is for events out of state, much less out of the country. As a gap filler, the PI plan seemed to offer exactly the coverage I needed for peace of mind, and at a very good price.

The time between when I submitted my claim to when I received a check was about 7 weeks, way to long!! I was asked for receipts, some which I did not save so only got reimburised for the couple small receipts I could find. Keeping all, I mean all was never mentioned when the plan was explained to me at time of purchase. Will shop around next trip I take overseas.

I didn't file a claim this trip but did file a claim last year. I used them again this year as the service and claim process was very easy and know hassle and all. I will always use this company when I travel as they were timely and efficient with my claim with great customer service.

I bought trip insurance because I was planning a very expensive trip, several months in advance. I was concerned that my elderly parents might get sick and cause the trip to be cancelled or cut short. I was very satisfied with this product. I did not have to use it, but it gave me great peace of mind.
