    Premiums for comprehensive policies are based largely on the length of the trip, the ages of the travelers, and the cost of the trip. A travel insurance policy is considered to be of good value when the policy premium is 4-10% of the insured trip cost.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Luxury Cruise
I got sick while on the cruise, my primary insurance covered the cost which I am pleased they did
the paperwork required by nationwide was too much.
when you have purchased travel insurance why do they need your boarding pass to prove that you went on the trip.
I will use your company again but i wont be using nationwide

Nevertheless, you may find that most, if not all claims departments, may require a copy of your boarding pass to file a claim. We cannot stress enough that you should save your receipts and proof of expenses so that you can be accurately reimbursed, whether it be costs due to a delay of travel for hotel or meal, or medical records for emergency treatment received.

I was attracted to this policy because of the medical evac coverage level since I was going to be traveling in Hawaii and I live on the mainland. Fortunately, I did not have to take advantage of it, but liked knowing it was available if needed.

Travelex Travel Basic
Fortunately, we didn't need to use it. We are in our early seventies and this plan was an immense source of comfort. Being on Original Medicare, with excellent secondary coverage, we took very low medical expense coverage of only $15,000. That kept the cost low. Trip was to Hawaii.

Evacuation coverage was my reason for taking it.

I learned how important this coverage is on a QE2 cruise from New York to Southampton England. A man suffered a medical emergency well out in the Atlantic, with Nova Scotia the nearest land. A medical helicopter followed by a large refueling plane came to the ship. Due to heavy waves, both the man and his wife were lifted into the helicopter in a basket. Wonder what that cost?

Plan had good coverage and I always compare medical, exclusion clause and emergency evacuation coverages as those are most important to me.
WE did not have to use the coverage this trip, thank goodness. But have had to use coverages provided by insurance companies thru Insure My Trip.
When that happened, Insure My Trip even stepped in to assist with prompt reimursment for a claim processed when there was a delay.
I love this service. Wish it were a bit more reasonable cost wise, but do also realize that insurance coverages are costly.

Generali Global Assistance Standard
When I fell off a poorly designed sidewalk in Lahaina, HI, while trying to assess whether or not I was injured enough to require medical attention, the thought crossed my mind "this is what trip insurance is for". IF I had needed medical attention we would have missed the cruise ship back to the mainland, so it would have been a "major glitch" in the program. Luckily, I was able to walk away with a few scrapes, bumps and bruises and recuperate during the 5 days at sea.

I will never again waiver as to whether or not trip insurance is necessary! IT IS.

    We are very glad to hear that you did not suffer serious injuries in your fall. It is not uncommon for travelers to view the cost of travel insurance as a waste of money, that is until they need it. If you had submitted a claim, Generali would have worked with you to make the claim process as quick and easy as possible.
