We purchased plan for additional evacuation coverage. However we had to cancel trip 3 days before leaving, but didn't file claim because reason was not covered. Fortunately we also had a great cancel-for-any- reason policy from Holland America that refunded 90% pf cruise/flights and 100% of tours.

AIG Travel Travel Guard Gold
I got sick and almost needed to change my flight plans. So I don't know if that change would have been covered., If it would have been, then it would have been worth it.

    Thank you for your feedback on the policy. You will be pleased to know that your policy states that "The Insurer will pay a benefit, up to the Maximum Limit shown on the Schedule, if an Insured cancels his/her Trip or is unable to continue on his/her Trip due to the following Unforeseen events:
    (a) Sickness, Injury or death of an Insured, Family Member, Traveling Companion, or Business Partner;
    1) Injury or Sickness of an Insured, Traveling Companion or Family Member traveling with the Insured must be so disabling as to reasonably cause a Trip to be cancelled or interrupted, or which results in medically imposed restrictions as certified by a Physician at the time of Loss preventing your continued participation in the Trip." In the event of a claim, the companies all provide a 24 emergency assistance and claim phone number.

The key drivers for us were: A. the Medical Insurance being primary and B. the bag delay/theft allowances. Fortunately, we didn't have need of either of these features, but it was nice knowing that if we had an issue we were covered. One of the travelers with us had their bag delayed a day by the airlines, and it took 3 days for it to catch up with us on the Safari. Good thing the camp did laundry and others in the group lent them clothes.
