Filed claim
April Travel Protection Choice
I filed a claim on July 25, 2017 and this morning, October 9, 2017 I finally received a determination on my claim, whereby April denied fully one-half of my submitted claim. It took this company 54 business days to review and ultimately reject one-half of the claim (they originally said it would be processed within 30 days of my claim submission). I started inquiring weeks ago regarding the delay but never received satisfactory responses. One specific expense I submitted I believe was clearly covered under the terms of the policy and plan to appeal it, and if an unsatisfactory resolution is received I will escalate to my state insurance commission. Another part of the claim, which were expenses incurred for having frequent miles reinstated, apparently was not allowable under the terms of the policy since I cancelled for any reason, whereby there is a loophole that allows them to deny payment on those expenses. Check the policies of the different companies if cancel for any reason is important to you - I am finding out now that many insurers do pay on FF reinstatement fee claims, as should be standard, since those are hard costs the traveler has to pay to make themselves whole. I honestly would have been better off paying for my airline tickets rather than using miles, as hopefully April might have paid on that...instead they gladly denied my FF mileage reinstatement claim. I would never do business with this company again and I would encourage you not do business with them either if you want a fair and timely claims process to happen should the need arise to make a claim. Very dissatisfied with every aspect of my dealings with this company. Unfortunately you get what you pay for, so bad on me but shame on them.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that you were unable to travel and that you are dissatisfied with your claim experience. Thank you for allowing InsureMyTrip to advocate on your behalf. Initially, some expenses were denied because they were not recognized as a “Travel Supplier". We were so glad to hear that after an appeal, the claims management did decide to allow an exception in this case. We look forward to assisting you in the future.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
There are different ways to define a specific coverage. My modest ($50) claim was dismissed on a technicality which I feel did not take into consideration the actual purpose of the coverage.
Therefore this insurance company has lost my future business.
And I will verbally discourage anyone I know from doing business with them.

A customer service person could contact me - if something were going to be changed however I am not interested in spending time listening to so-called "reasons".

Luckily I didn't need to file a claim, so am assuming all claims would have been covered.
It gave me peace of mind when traveling to Australia for one month, knowing all the things that could go wrong, but luckily, didn't!

I have always bought trip insurance and wondered about the value. Unfortunately, this trip we did need assistance and had to file a claim. My wife fell down the stairs on the third day of our 15 day cruise from Sydney to Singapore. She fractured her pelvis in four places and suffered internal bleeding. The ship's team handled the emergency well until we anchored at Airlie Beach. The local EMTs called a helicopter for a forty minute flight from the ship to a hospital in Mackay, Australia. At admission, the hospital made it clear that I personally would be responsible for payment. But by the third day, Seven Corners Assist had contacted the hospital financial office arranging for a guarantee of payment for what turned out to be almost three weeks in the hospital including a surgery. Seven Corners Assist arranged for flights back to North Carolina in lie-flat seating for my wife, even sending an escort to accompany us. A former EMT, he was very well versed medically, and very experienced in handling the challenges encountered in our 30 hour return trip. I was able to tend to my wife while he handled the aggravations of the airports and airline.

Insurance promptly paid the direct hospital billing and return travel to enable us to leave the hospital. Personal expenses and trip interruption reimbursements were a challenge, with misplaced claims paperwork requiring several follow-up calls. It dragged four months, but after electronically resubmitting receipts, we received full refund of all our expenses. We certainly appreciated the assistance we received while in the throes of our emergency given the14 hour time difference, and during our trip home; and for the final settlement of our claim. I recommend this policy for the emergency support received and final settlement.

We've never filed a claim before. This was a trip of a lifetime for the family and our 30th anniversary. Two weeks in Australia-part with adventures by Disney and part on our own. We had lots of tough stuff like skydiving on the beach planned and wanted (needed) special coverage, just in case.

We made a mistake-we listened to the travel agent and booked the domestic portion of the trip on American Airlines. Two days of our trip we were trapped in Dallas Texas instead of playing in Sydney Australia. We missed the sydney symphony in the Sydney opera house-surfing at Manley beach-and a full day of the organized tour.

We called the emergency claim number while trapped in Dallas airport and insure my trip was the only nice voice we heard for two days.

We filed the claim upon return and they were terrific. Didn't need the special coverage (glad we had it for skydiving) but for the ordinary issues we did need the coverage and they were the best.

We can never get the wasted time and missed activities back, but the cost was recovered and expenses were too. Quickly, easily, and fairly.

Now if only John Hancock ran American Airlines.....

Bought a good plan for cancellation for any reason with one of the more reasonable prices (sort of), did not have to use it. Found their Emailed package and instructions very clear and easy to use.

Maybe would recommend AXA. We had a huge claim with them almost two years ago and it isn't completely resolved yet and is being turned over to Collections in Australia.
We call and call and write emails and the hospital there has tried as well. AXA doesn't answer anyone...only ever has more forms and questions. This time no claims. Last time a nightmare.

We purchased a Gold Plan for an expensive trip to Antarctica and Patagonia.
Unfortunately, the ship suffered major engine failure and our voyage scheduled
a few weeks later was cancelled. Our plans to tour Patagonia were also cancelled.
We contacted the Insurance company who provided a complete set of claim forms.
We worked to reschedule aspects of our trip and obtain credits where possible.
Despite our efforts we were faced with a significant loss. However, we are pleased
to report that the Insurance Company responded in a timely manner and provided a
check to cover our loss. That's right....no request for additional information. No hassles.
No delays. They behaved exactly as we wished and they will continue to be our Insurance
Company for all future trips. Well done!.
