Allianz Global Assistance Classic Trip Plus
I bought this policy for my son while he was in Cambodia for 10 months. Thankfully he never had to use it but the simple fact that he had coverage there allowed me to sleep a bit more peacefully at night!

April Travel Protection Choice
Insurance is only as good as it handles a claim. I killed my camera, April handled the claim fairly in a month. Communications before I submitted the claim were very prompt and helpful.

Seven Corners Roundtrip Choice
I contacted them once for assistance with making an appointment for urgent care in Africa and was exceedingly disappointed with the level of customer service and assistance I received. There are many plans out there that offer help when traveling, this is not one of them.

CSA Travel Protection Custom
My flight was delayed 10 hours on return. We finally departed at 3 a.m. We sat in the airport for 10 hours because we had baggage and it was too difficult to leave the airport and come back again. I am 78 years old and in poor health. CSA pays nothing for delay, only for additional expenses such as food, hotel, etc., We did not incur expenses, only the unexpected misery of a 10 hour delay.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that your flight was delayed. The CSA Travel Protection Custom plan offers the following coverage Travel Delay:

If you are delayed on your Trip for 6 hours or more, CSA Travel Protection will reimburse you up to 150 USD per person, per day
for reasonable additional expenses incurred by you for
hotels, meals, telephone calls, and local transportation. Proof of these expenses must be provided with your claim.

Travel Delay must be caused by or result from:
    a. delay of a Common Carrier; or
    b. loss or theft of your passport(s), travel documents
    or money; or
    c. Quarantine; or
    d. hijacking; or
    e. natural disaster or adverse weather; or
    f. being directly involved in a documented traffic
accident while you are en route to departure; or
    g. unannounced strike; or
    h. a civil disorder; or
    i. Sickness or Injury of you or a Traveling
    Companion; or
    j. death of a Traveling Companion.

Travel insurance industry standard is to reimburse out of pocket expenses resulting from a covered peril. We understand that being delayed is an unpleasant experience, but travel insurance does not award benefits solely due to being inconvenienced.

Please call us at 800-487-4722 if you have any questions or concerns. Our licensed representatives are available 7 days a week to provide assistance and support.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to hear about your delay and about your negative experience at the airport. While we aim to always provide the best customer service experience possible, our plans are designed to provide coverage for financial losses you might incur while traveling and are generally unable to provide inconvenience payments of any kind. We highly encourage customers to review a sample Description of Coverage/Insurance Policy at the time of purchase in order to better understand their plan details. We also offer a free look back period with all of our plans to allow customers to cancel their policies within a designated period as long as they haven't already left on their trip or filed a claim. We hope you’ll consider updating your review. Please contact us at (800) 348-9505 if you have any additional questions or concerns about the plan you purchased.

Didn't file a claim, so I don't know how well any claims would get paid. But I'd probably use the same plan in the future.

My flight was delayed for 4 hours, but I couldn't file the claim, my policy said 6+. I should read policy more careful.

Thanks for sharing your experience. We’re sorry to hear your trip was delayed and apologize for not meeting your expectations. We do offer plans that can provide coverage for a variety of different expenses if your flight is delayed. As you mention, our Travel Delay coverage requires a six hour delay or longer in order to provide reimbursement for certain out-of-pocket expenses you might incur while delayed, such as lodging, meals and local transportation. However, if your flight is delayed due to adverse weather, mechanical breakdown of your aircraft, or an organized labor strike, our Trip Interruption coverage can typically reimburse for additional transportation costs you may incur to return home or rejoin your group in addition to any prepaid non-refundable expenses that you had to forfeit as a result of the delay, regardless of its length. We never discourage our customers from filing claims, even if it appears the plan would be unable to provide coverage for you. We hope you’ll consider updating your review. If you have any additional questions regarding the plan you purchased and the coverages available, please contact us at (800) 348-9505 or via email at csa@csatravelprotection.com.

Global Alert! Preferred Plus
When your away on vacation or traveling in a foreign country you never know when a medical issue will happen. For peace of mind I always buy a medical plan to cover any needs while I am away. In this case Globel Alert. Keep in mind when you need medical help in a foreign country the first question you will be asked is, "Do you have medical coverage". The price of a medical plan while traveling is nothing compared to what your cost would be if you would have to be hospitalized. Remember, Medicare does not cover your medical expenses outside the US. So remeber this the next time your preparing to travel outside the US.

John Hancock Bronze
I was unaware that I should have purchased the insurance within so many days of the travel purchases to get all the coverage we needed. Did not know how to do this as the tour purchase dates were not at the same time as the airfare purchases for the 4 individuals. There were 2 sets of tours purchased on different days, and 2 sets of airfares on different days.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. You can purchase most policies up until the day before departure. However, the best time to purchase travel insurance is right after you put money down towards your trip. Some policies include time sensitive benefits which are but not limited to pre-existing condition waiver, financial default, Cancel For Any Reason and Cancel For Work Reasons. Most plans require that you purchase a policy within 10 - 30 days of your initial trip payment, and insure all prepaid non refundable trip costs to receive these time sensitive benefits.

You can always purchase insurance for cost of the trip that is known, within the required time frame, and then call us to amend your policy when you make the subsequent trip payments. To keep the time sensitive benefits in tact, please be sure to call us within the time frame listed on the policy to add-on the additional travel arrangements.

AIG Travel Travel Guard MedEvac Plan
We only purchased the medical portion of the plan, which we did not have to use. It seemed reasonably priced, but without having the experience of filing a claim, we could only base the ratings ease of purchase and perceived value.

It is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it; or so the saying goes.
We did not need it but thanks to the rep who provided advice when it began looking for travel insurance.
