Allianz Global Assistance Classic
Took a river cruise in Europe. Low water level at some point during the cruise prevented our ship from stopping at two ports of the six scheduled. Received no compensation from the cruise line and no compensation from Allianz Global. Allianz did not make any offer; essentially saying that is not covered. I would not risk flying to Europe for a river cruise and then missing two prime destinations again. I was the only individual to insure with Allianz all others insured with the cruise line's recommendation; maybe I should have taken our policy with them.

HTH Worldwide Trip Protector Classic
Web site made it very easy to compare plans and make the proper selection. Glad we didn't have a claim, but it was nice to know we were covered 'just in case'!

Allianz Global Assistance Basic
I have used Allianz for several trips. It is easy to apply for coverage and easy to understand what's covered and what's not. I have experienced the claim process: it is straightforward and my claim was processed in a very timely manner.. I will continue to use Allianz for our travel insurance.

Global Alert! Preferred
We had to file a claim because we had to return early due to a death in the family. At first I filed the claim with TripMate, the firm that processes claims for Global Alert, and they were somewhat slow in responding to my questions and confirming receipt of my submissions. Calling them required me to wait a long time on hold.

Then I received a note in the mail that a different firm, Broadspire, would process my claim and had received materials I had submitted. The letter was signed by the person handling my claim, and included her phone and e-mail contact info. I spoke with her a few times and she was very clear about the additional information I needed to submit. Having a specific person to speak with was very reassuring, and although I had hoped the process would move a little faster, I did receive a very fair amount for my claim. I would want to use this insurance company and claims processor again if I ever have another issue.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Luxury Cruise
I purchased a Luxury Cruise travel insurance plan with Nationwide through Insuremytrip for a cruise to Alaska in June 2018. Our family vacation included a land tour of Seattle after the cruise. However, as we prepared to disembark the ship I received a call from our veterinarian back home that our dog had to be hospitalized in critical condition. We changed our return flight to fly home immediately, which more than doubled the air fare for our family of four. Sadly, our dog died the next day. I filed a claim for the increased air fare under the trip-interruption benefit of the policy. My original claim was misplaced so I had to re-send it. The full amount of the claim was paid within two weeks thereafter, less than a month after I submitted the original. Everything was done by email and was very simple and quick. After reading so many reviews about poor claims processing by some travel insurers I was prepared for the worst but Nationwide came through, at a time we were still mourning the loss of our beloved pet. I'm planning another trip for the end of 2018 and will insure with Nationwide again. I recommend them without hesitation.

    However, we also wish to point out to your fellow travelers, that payment was provided under "Trip Interruption For Any Reason":

    "If You interrupt Your Trip, forty-eight (48) hours or more after Your actual departure date, for any reason not otherwise covered by this Certificate, the Company will reimburse You up to the Maximum Benefit shown on the Confirmation of Coverage for the a) unused portion of the prepaid, forfeited, non-refundable Payments or Deposits You paid for Your Trip;
    b) the airfare paid less the value of applied credit from an unused travel ticket, to return home, join or rejoin the original Land/Sea Arrangements limited to the cost of one- way economy airfare by scheduled carrier, from the point of destination to the point of origin shown on the original travel tickets; provided:
    i. Your premium payment is received prior to or on the date Your final deposit/payment for Your Trip is received and at least thirty (30) days prior to the Scheduled Departure Date; and
    ii. You insure all prepaid Trip costs that are subject to cancellation penalties or restrictions and also insure prior to or on the date Your final payment for those arrangements the cost of any subsequent arrangements (or any other arrangements not made through Your travel agent) added to Your Trip."
