AIG Travel Travel Guard MedEvac Plan
I already have. If you can afford to take a trip "across the pond", you can afford to insure for things that might "go bad". We chose the evacuation insurance, because it is really expensive to have to fly back suddenly due to unforeseen circumstances. Happily we did not need to make a claim, but we knew we would be protected if we did.

Travelex Travel Select
Being on Medicare, my health coverage is no longer available outside the country. My credit card company provides a complete trip cancellation/ interruption plan for free when paying for the trip with their card. But medical insurance is not included. . InsureMyTrip beautifully filled the gap and provided peace of mind for a nominal price.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Universal Cruise
Luckily I did not have to use any part of this plan but the peace of mind having it for the price I paid was well worth it at 74 years old you never know when you may have to. It was the least expensive plan I found with the same if not more coverage then the others I researched.

We were unable to take the trip to France as planned due to hip replacement surgery but the policy recovered all of our investment and we've scheduled the trip for September.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
I supplied all the documentation on 2/9/17. I got my checks on 4/13.

There were two problems. The reviewer would not accept a paid statement from the cruise line as proof of payment. The notification of this rejection was not communicated clearly resulting in delays.

Put another way, this the kind of BS we expect from insurance companies. Delaying payment to improve their cash flow. I made numerous phone calls and it still took over 2 months.

AXA Assistance USA Gold
Plan provided piece of mind while traveling in France. Our main concern was to have trip interruption coverage and adequate medical coverage in the event of an emergency since our primary medical plans did not provide coverage out of the country.

Allianz Global Assistance Classic Trip Plus
We spent 10 months overseas. My wife had a series of "problems". An infected tooth in Paris, a broken wrist in Croatia, and a broken foot when we were visiting Poland. Yes, all within 10 months. We filed all of our claims and the insurance company, Allianz, paid them promptly and fairly. I just hope they will allow us to get a policy for our next trip.

CSA Travel Protection Custom
If you are considering this company, make sure you fully understand their definition of 'pre-existing conditions'. This company has a 180 look-back history. I didn't know what that meant until I had to file a claim and was denied. Here's what look-back means: any condition evaluated or treated 180 days PRIOR to purchase. "Underlying conditions" is also part of this definition. I lost a lot of $$$ not fully understanding the definitions. Next time I have to buy travel insurance, I will DEFINITELY go to great lengths to understand every aspect of the policy.

Our Custom Luxe plan can provide coverage for such losses provided the plan is purchased prior to or within 24 hours of final trip payment, if other requirements outlined in the Description of Coverage/Policy are met.
