MEDEX TravMed Choice Outbound
Toward the end of my trip I became pretty sick. We were in a far flung place, so I asked the tour guide to call his company and tell them I wanted to return home. (They had my insurance information.) I was told that I could sign off the tour and I'd then be on my own. I was way too ill to handle anything myself, and there was no phone access.
So all I could do was stay in bed alone for the rest of the trip.
My question is this: if one is really ill, as i was, then just how is one meant to contact the insurance company and arrange to be helped?

    The best way to obtain assistance from the insurance provider is to contact the 24/7 Emergency Assistance company by calling the toll-free or collect-call telephone numbers printed on your ID card or emailing Assistance@uhcglobal.com. "Upon your request, MEDEX will provide referrals to pre-approved physicians, hospitals, dentists, and dental clinics in the area you are traveling in order to assist you in locating appropriate treatment and quality care."

    If the condition is an emergency, please call the local 911 to be taken to the nearest physician or hospital, and then contact the 24/7 Emergency Assistance company as soon as reasonably possible.

Travelex Travel Basic
I made two claims, one for medical care after a fall and a second for rebooking fees after missing a flight due to train delays. The documentation process took some back and forth due to a complex situation but all of my claims were paid. I was very happy with Travelex.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Luxury Cruise
We had no claims. I would like to see annual policies to cover multiple trips be offerred. We have several trips plan for 2017 and 2018 and feel that an annual policy would save us time and cost.

CSA Travel Protection Custom
Plan provided good value for the coverage provided and purchase process was straightforward. I did not file a claim so have no experience with the claims process, which is the real test of an insurance plan. This was my first time buying travel insurance, but I plan to use the CSA plan again for future travel and will recommend it to my friends.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Plus
No claims so we really do not know (thankfully) how good the policy is as we did not have a claim. But, it looked good and we were happy to have it.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
We filed a claim for medical reasons and received a full refund within a timely manner. Customer service at Nationwide was patient, friendly and helpful both when selecting a plan and when needing to file a claim. I recommend Nationwide as it truly is "on your side!"

Unfortunately, it was determined that the reason for the delay is not a covered Hazard. The Seven Corners Roundtrip Choice policy defines a Hazard as any delay of a Common Carrier (including Inclement Weather); any delay by a traffic accident en route to a departure, in which You or a Traveling Companion is not directly involved; any delay due to lost or stolen passports, travel documents or money, quarantine, hijacking, unannounced strike, natural disaster, civil commotion or riot; a closed roadway causing cessation of travel to the destination of the Trip (substantiated by the department
    of transportation, state police, etc.).
