Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
It took more than 2 months and several phone calls to receive payment for a very straightforward claim. There are also absurd requirement for redundant documentation (e.g. a copy of a train ticket with the amount paid stated clearly on the ticket was not enough — they also required a copy of my credit card statement).

I went on a vacation and had some unfortunate medical issues. The emergency provider, On-Call is horrible and they bury you in paperwork instead of trying to help you.
TravelEx Claim Administration is no better. I filed 2 separate claims and provided all the documentation and now 1 month later I have not received any payment or information. I called to follow up and I was told someone would call me but noone did.
They did string me along, making partial payments until I persisted..
Finally 4 months later and several faxes and mailings later, the claim was settled, not exactly an easy process but I did get 95% of the claim reimbursed..

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. Travelex has issued the following reply:
"Thank you for reaching out to us on InsureMyTrip.com, we do appreciate you notifying us regarding the Claims Administrator and the Travel Assistance Company.
We review and process our clients’ claims with every consideration related to the details of the situation. Insurance is highly regulated and in order to confirm coverage, completed claim forms and documentation are an important part of the claim process. Occasionally, additional documentation is required by our claims administrator in order to validate coverage as it relates to the specific conditions as listed in the plan purchased.
Additionally, it is imperative for the Travel Assistance Company to obtain a completed medical report and fit to travel forms, prior to making safe travel arrangements.
Travelex makes every effort to review all concerns from our clients and we hope this provides clarification on the plan benefits and claims process.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at [email protected]"
I applied on what I thought was the 20th day from the date of payment. All the other companies that waive the preexisting condition exclusion, when you apply within 20 days, said that I was in day 21 it was too late. These people allowed the waiver.

In reply to this review, we would like you to know that the various Comprehensive plans have different conditions that qualify a traveler for the preexisting condition waiver depending on plan and state of residency. Some plans simply do not offer a waiver.
The AXA Assistance USA Gold plan offers the waiver if the traveler (1) purchases the policy within 14 days of the Initial Trip Payment (Day #1 is the date of that Initial Trip Payment); (2) is medically fit to travel on the policy purchase date; and (3) pays the appropriate additional premium to add the coverage.
In the future, please call us at 800-487-4722 if you wish to quote and purchase a plan with the preexisting condition waiver.
