It was annoying to keep having to call and send confirming emails when I made my final payment. It would be nice to just pay for all of the coverage at the beginning, since I knew how much my total cost would be for airfare and lodging.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that you are displeased with the policy adjustment protocol. In the future, if you have an accurate price point of the total pre-paid and non-refundable trip cost, you can insure the entire cost up front, and pay the entire premium up front. Please be mindful that you would be reimbursed only for the trip cost that was non refundable at the time of cancellation. Here are several reasons why we advise customers to purchase insurance for the current trip cost, and add the costs of any subsequent arrangements as you make them: If an insured over estimates the trip cost or never incurs the trip cost, they will have purchased too much coverage, and will have over paid on premium. Outside of the 10-14 day review period there are no refunds. On the other hand, if the insured under insures, they risk invalidating the pre-existing conditions waiver. If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 800-487-4722.
My opinion is solely based on why I went with them after going over roughly a dozen various policies being offered according to my needs. I did find that Nationwide appeared to cover all the bases, from secondary medical coverage, to up to $1 million for evacuations; the secondary baggage insurance would have covered the loss or damage to the majority of what I carried, and I liked that their assistance in the case of delays came within 6 hours and not 12+ as with some. Most importantly, the cancellation and interruption coverage was what really impressed me, as it was about 1-1/2 times what was paid by me as far as the prepaid airfare, my cruise itself, and one excursion. I think that if the need arose (and I will be taking yet another cruise in 2015), I would definitely consider going with Nationwide again.

This is my first time purchasing travel insurance. Since I was going to Jamaica I wanted insurance for weather related issues. We had beautiful weather! I had a good policy but probably would not purchase travel insurance again.

It is a comfort to know that if we had to make a claim; our experience with the policies we have purchased in the past, through InsureMyTrip, were excellent.

Hard to say anything really about this or any travel policy until a claim is filed and the insured experiences how the insurance carrier responds. Since I didn't file a claim, it would not be fair for me to assign a five star rating to any of the survey questions. On the surface, the policy did seem to be priced reasonably given it provided "primary" coverage. Most travel policies, like the ones offered as an inexpensive "add-on" offered for optional purchase with the purchase of airline tickets, typically only offer "secondary" coverage meaning that the policy only pays a claim after any other existing "primary" insurance policies applicable to the claim (if any) pays out first. I liked that this policy provided "primary" coverage for a reasonable price.

Policy was easy to purchase and a reasonable price. All info was available for download.
Each time we return from our trip without using the insurance we question purchasing the plan.
Then, we think what could have happened, and are we prepared to chance uncertain health care and the financial loss that we might incur.
