Fortunately, no claim was neccessary to file, but it was reassuring to know we were covered for unforseen occurences.

Generali Global Assistance Preferred
All good - but the online process was a bit cumbersome - could be more consumer friendly to fill out form - keep draft etc.

Thank you for your 5 star review of the Generali Preferred plan.

"Travel Insurance Reviews" is your opportunity to read and post reviews on the insurance companies. When you return home from your trip, you receive a review request email. In that email you are asked to rate your policy and the claims process, if you had to file a claim.

However, there is another forum, ResellerRatings.com which is a site for rating InsureMyTrip.com. That email message to post your review follows the purchase of your policy.

Please call us at 800-487-4722, if you have any questions or concerns.

Plan administrators interpreted a diagnosis that occurred after purchase of plan, and prevented travel, as pre-existing. Subsequently , my claim was denied.. even after appeal. My travel companion's insurance company reviewers were able to understand the diagnosis was NOT pre-existing, and reimbursed her immediately, without question. VERY disappointed.

    Thank you for your review.

After consulting the claims department, Generali has advised that the injury occurred within the 60 day look back period prior to your effective date of coverage but did not improve. As a result, there was a possible worsening of the condition that resulted in surgery at a later date.

Since your plan did not include a preexisting condition waiver, the denial of coverage is correct according to the terms and conditions of your policy:

"PRE-EXISTING CONDITION means a Sickness or Injury during the 60 day period immediately prior to your effective date for which you or your Traveling Companion:
    (1) received, or received a recommendation for, a diagnostic
test, examination, or medical treatment; or (2) took or received a prescription for drugs or medicine.
Item 2 of this definition does not apply to a condition which is treated or controlled solely through the taking of prescription drugs or medicine and remains treated or controlled without any adjustment or change in the required prescription throughout the 60-day period before coverage is effective under this Policy."

Wrong. Diagnosis of a sprained ankle(correct or incorrect) does NOT equal torn tendon and need for restructuring of ones heel. My travel companions insurance company was able to differentiate.. and refund immediately

Trip went without any glicthes. No claims had to be made. But good to know the protection was there just in case. Would buy again if I had to.

It is difficult to rate a plan without having to file a claim. I concluded that at 77 years, the probability of something happening to my wife or myself can only increase with each passing year. Having the insurance gave us added peace of mind prior to leaving. So that's about it.

My wife and I were about to depart on a long-planned (very expensive) vacation and cruise aboard the Regent Explorer. However, right before we were to leave for our flight to Italy, both of us became seriously ill and we were both hospitalized. Fortunately we had purchased our policy thru InsureMyTrip and I had selected Generali as our provider. The service from Generali could not have been better. The entire process was handled very efficiently via email. After submitting all of the forms and doctors' reports (extensive but understandable) our claim was paid immediately. Although we were very disappointed that we were unable to take our cruise, we could not be more satisfied with the service and claim processing we received from Generali. I highly recommend that anyone contemplating a trip consider Generali as their insurance provider. I should also note that Generali was extremely competitive in their pricing as well. Thank you InsureMyTrip and Generali.
