Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
While the plan seemed pricey, I did appreciate that they let us transfer the policy when a member of our original travel plans developed a serious illness and we had to change to a different trip.

You never know how good the insurance is until you need it. Luckily, we did not. The most important feature for me was 'cancel for any reason', as we have two older dogs who both have health issues.

We have previously used Nationwide through Insuremytrip for trip insurance, and in one case needed to make a claim. Nationwide covered our losses with no issues, and so we now default to them (and Insuremytrip) when buying trip insurance. Although we did not need to make a claim this time, we were able to book everything with the peace of mind that we would not be out a bunch of money should something unforeseen happen.

Our trip to Iceland was interrupted by a winter storm that caused a government mandated closure of the roads and prevented us from getting to our return flight. We had to reschedule for the next day at an additional charge. Generali denied what would seem to be obviously a trip interruption and/or delay using logic that defies common sense. They are not to be trusted to do the right thing. The fine print is more important than their concern for their customers.

We're very glad we got the Nationwide Mutual Insurance Prime plan because we ended up getting COVID on our trip to Iceland and the plan covered and reimbursed us for the return flights we had to miss, an additional week of lodging and car rental, and new return flights.
It was hard to tell what paperwork we needed, but to be sure we got an official government PCR test and submitted the certificate we got from that as part of our claim. We filed as soon as we got back home. It took about 3 months, and then out of the blue we just got checks in the mail saying our claim was accepted. So overall, would have appreciated better documentation on what paperwork was needed, what is covered, etc, but it worked out well for us.

Of course the coverage was what we were looking for. It was important for us to have coverage for a trip as one never knows what may happen. Great I never had to file a claim. As soon as the trip was completed, and I arrived home with my bags, trip was completed. It was easy to navigate to get the coverage as well. Thanks again and until the next time.

I had luggage delayed at London Heathrow for 8 days, but did not file a delayed baggage claim because I was at my home destination. I did talk with a representative about filing a claim if the baggage was lost - and he was extremely helpful. Thank you
