Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
I thought I had purchased a "Cancel for any Reason" package. Because I have a daughter that gets sick a lot, and other various concerns, I needed that package. The day of our trip, a hurricane watch went into effect in NY where we had a plane transfer. After unsuccessfully searching for other options as a transfer point, I cancelled the trip. Later I learned that I did NOT have "Cancel for any Reason" coverage. We scrambled to reschedule our trip for the next day. The coverage did nothing for me.

Thank you for your review for this C&F Travel Insured plan. Your comments provide us with another opportunity to discuss the Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) coverage.
CFAR is an optional coverage available in some plans. As you found out when you tried to report your claim, your C&F Travel Insured Worldwide Trip Protector did not include CFAR. In order to have that coverage through C&F Travel Insured, you would have had to purchase the C&F Travel Insured Worldwide Trip Protector Plus plan at a higher premium. Generally CFAR increases a policy premium from 45% to 55% depending on the plan.
Unfortunately many travelers purchasing travel insurance believe that Trip Cancellation, which allows you to cancel your trip prior to departure, is synonymous with CFAR. Trip Cancellation, which is available in only Comprehensive Coverage plans, allows you to cancel a trip for a "covered reason" as listed in each plan. These covered reasons may vary between plans and states so it is always best to review those covered reasons. Of course, the number one and two covered reasons in Comprehensive plans are usually the unexpected sickness, accidental injury or death of you, your traveling companion, and family member. However, CFAR would have allowed you to cancel your trip for "other than a covered reason".
We welcome you to call us when quoting for our assistance. We would be very happy to review your options along with the conditions of coverage.
Fortunately did not utilize this insurance. I thought the cost was reasonable for family of 5 to Caribbean for a week. Covered primary medical, air evacuation, and the usual trip insurance items.

I used this plan to cover a cruise. I needed something to cover more than what the cruise was offering with their protection. I also wanted a plan that cost less. I'm glad I didn't need it!

As difficult as it was to find out I had cancer only a month before our trip, this process of cancellation was without a hitch for my husband and I. Our son and family remained on the policy and went on the trip. No problems at all. Thank you for quick, easy response.

For a small claim of $300, they sure made us jump through a lot of hoops to get it paid. It took about 6 weeks to receive the check. However, they did make good and paid the claim as stated in the policy however.
