Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
I would not have traveled overseas without this coverage. Medicare only covers 50,000 of medical bills. I was on a cruise so I appreciated that option.

We've purchased Nationwide Essentials policies for about five trips. Our most recent was the first for which we had to cancel the trip and make a claim. It turned out that we over-insured, because the pre-existing condition waiver, which we wanted, requires all non-refundable prepayments to be insured, and I wasn't aware that our airfare bought through the cruise line, plus the prepaid specialty dinners and excursions, were refundable from the cruise line. So our claim was only for about 50% of our insured amount. I made sure to provide the claim dept with all the details requested. They never responded by email after I submitted the claim, but instead just mailed a check for the claimed amount, so that was a nice "surprise" when it arrived. My only complaint was one claims dept phone rep; I called two days after emailing in all the documentation, because I wanted to make sure they received everything I sent, and that they could read the documents. The rep was not helpful, and just kept telling me they had 15 days to respond to my claim. He also first told me they hadn't received my claim form, which turned out not to be true. After quite a round-about discussion, he finally looked at some of the documents (he didn't seem to want to be bothered to check them all for me), and the one that I sent as Word doc instead of a PDF was unreadable, so I re-sent it as a PDF. This unhelpful rep was an unusual experience, because I spoke to several other folks in the claims department before I filed the claim, and they were able to answer my questions for me. If I needed to, I would have called back to get a better rep to help me. Also the InsureMyTrip chat staff has always be extremely helpful and knowledgeable, both during my insurance purchases, and when I had questions about my claim.

I bought this plan for a trip to Italy and Greece. In Athens, we had a power failure in the late afternoon with no power all night. The hotel had no available rooms and they weren't sure if they could get power restored.
By the next day, power had not been restored and so I called IMG. I told them what happened and asked if it would be covered by my policy. I was told that, yes, it was covered under trip interruption.
I booked another hotel at a higher price and filed a claim. I uploaded all supporting documentations. My claim was denied.
While it is possible that this was not a covered event, I wish they hadn't told them it was covered, which was probably a factor in what I paid for the new hotel.
Read the terms and conditions carefully, and I don't suppose that you should believe what they tell you, verbally.

Fortunately our trip went as planned, so we did not need out insurance, this time. Hopefully we will be pleased with the plan even if we do have a claim.

Since I didn't have to file a claim, I cannot comment on the process of filing a claim; the customer service; the ease of filling; or the level of satisfaction. I'm am glad I purchased this plan, however.
