Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
During these uncertain times of travel, I was so happy to find insurance that was very trip specific and required for my destination. I would definitely purchase this particular travel insurance again from now on. The price was reasonable as well as the coverage.

My friend and I bought this plan instead of a more basic medical-only plan because we wanted protection in case flights were delayed or interrupted, or in case luggage was delayed or lost. From our experience, it was not worth it.
We did indeed have a 24-hour delay due to a missed connection. I thought I would receive the advertised payout, but it was only for expenses incurred during the delay. Since the airline paid for our hotel and gave us meal vouchers, we had zero expenses and thus were not reimbursed anything. I had thought we would receive a straight payout as compensation for the delay, but that was obviously not the case.
My friend also had his luggage lost/delayed for over 24 hours at our destination. Again, there was no direct payout, only reimbursement for things like new clothes or laundry. I had let my friend borrow my spare clothes, so again, there were no expenses to be reimbursed. If we were to do it over again, I would have suggested my friend just go on a shopping spree for free clothing since apparently that was covered.
I imagine the medical coverage was worthwhile, but we didn't need to use it. You can get medical coverage separately at a fraction of the cost of this plan. I really don't think this was worth the cost, and I suggest you read the fine print before buying it over a more basic medical-only plan.

"Hi Taylor. We are sorry to hear of the dissatisfaction with your travel policy. While we did not receive a formal claim from you, based on the review of your call to us, we can confirm that your policy only covers actual incurred expenses under a eligible benefit. There is no indemnity benefit under the policy you purchased."
We didn't need to use this, thank goodness. The coverage was rather expensive and, because we didn't sign up early enough, the plan did not cover all medical expenses--only secondary coverage. As seniors, we have Medicare as our basic insurance and that didn't cover us as we were traveling.

I had an emergency appendectomy the day my husband and I were to leave on an extended and expensive trip. It was obvious that the insurance should cover the trip. They received my claim on February 18 - and required a HUGE amount of paperwork, including our marriage license to show proof of relationship, and the payment was made May 12. There WERE extenuating circumstances (the business was hit with a malware attack and then of course the coronavirus). However, they kept on asking for additional information which they already had, but in a different format, and THEN finally, after numerous phone calls, they passed it on to another underwriter because of the size of the claim. That took an additional 3 weeks. Insure My Trip was of NO HELP. They sell the insurance and then you are on your own. I will not use either company again.

"We're sorry to hear about the circumstances surrounding your experience, and for not meeting your expectations. Our goal is to provide a smooth and seamless experience for all of our customers, however, the claims process can take some time, as our regulatory laws require a number of reviews and required documentation. Under normal circumstance, the process can take up to 30 days, however, this timeline may be extended due to the current volume we are experiencing."
Please contact InsureMyTrip at 800-487-4722 where a licensed representative would be happy to assist you if you have any additional questions or concerns.
I have tried calling but your lines are busy due to the pandemic, I understand. But I would like to speak to someone to confirm what would have been covered or not covered under my policy if I had to cancel mid trip.
Coverage and satisfaction are place holders until I hear response.
Thanks
