Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
Unfortunately, I had to go to a hospital emergency room because of a lingering illness while traveling in Australia. After returning home, I called I Travel Insured to report the claim and get the claims process started. Their claim process was straightforward and easy, especially because I had all the needed documentation from the hospital and doctor and proof of payment. The claim was paid in less than 4 weeks after submission. In addition, a couple of items that were not paid were clearly explained to me in a letter that I received a week before I received the check. The reasons for denial were fair and seemed to comply with the policy. But the majority of the medical claim was paid with no additional follow up needed. I was and am extremely happy with their service. Through the years, I have had to file two other medical claims with different travel insurers. One was for myself and the other for my husband. By far, I Travel Insured's claims process, communication and prompt payment was heads above the other two companies. I highly recommend using this insurance and have just purchased another insurance policy with them for an upcoming trip.

My claim was fairly processed and it took 2.5 months to receive the settlement, which I thought was reasonable. The people I spoke with were helpful and they reached out to me via phone to let me know the additional information I had to provide. I was a little disappointed in the way they determined the trip interruption days and felt that I should have received a bit more per day because I had traveled a day before the trip actually began and they calculated that day into the daily amount of the trip cost. I think that I didn't explain that clearly enough for the person who settled the claim.
It was a bit difficult to communicate with them because the person I was working with was never available when I called and emails to their email address aren't answered very promptly.
Other than that I felt that I had received good service and would not hesitate to buy insurance with this company again.

Although we didn't need to file a claim, it gave us peace of mind to know we were covered in the event of some emergency. We primarily bought this policy because of ill relatives that might have caused us to need to return home before the end of the trip.

"If You miss Your cruise or tour departure because Your arrival at Your Trip destination is delayed for six (6) or more hours, due to:
(a) any delay of a Common Carrier (the delay must be certified by the Common Carrier);
(b) documented weather condition preventing You from getting to the point of departure;
(c) quarantine, hijacking, Strike, Natural Disaster, terrorism or riot.
We will reimburse You, up to the Maximum Benefit Amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits, for:
(a) Your Additional Transportation Cost to join Your Trip; and
(b) Your Prepaid expenses for the unused land or water Travel Arrangements; and
(c) reasonable accommodation and meal expenses up to one hundred twenty-five dollars (125USD) per day necessarily incurred by You for which You have proof of purchase and which were not paid for or provided by any other source.
Your delayed arrival must be due to:
(a) any delay of a Common Carrier (the delay must be certified by the Common Carrier);
(b) documented weather condition preventing You from getting to the point of departure;
(c) quarantine, hijacking, Strike, Natural Disaster, terrorism or riot.

"Benefits will be paid up to one hundred twenty-five dollars (125USD) per day for: reasonable accommodation, meal, telephone call and local transportation expenses incurred by You, up to the Maximum Benefit Amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits, if You are delayed for twelve (12) hours or more while enroute to or from, or during Your Trip, due to:
(a) any delay of a Common Carrier (the delay must be certified by the Common Carrier);
(b) a traffic accident in which You or Your Traveling Companion is not directly involved (must be substantiated by a police report);
(c) lost or stolen passports, travel documents or money (must be substantiated by a police report);
(d) quarantine, hijacking, Strike, Natural Disaster, terrorism or riot;
(e) a documented weather condition preventing You from getting to the point of departure."
We strongly recommend customers read the terms and conditions of the policy within the review period to determine if the policy fits your needs. When we filed a plan for trip interruption, they did eventually pay but their communication was terrible (basically none) and it took longer than promised. The payout was less than half of what we claimed based on how they classified it so it wasn't overall a great experience. You can't say it was clearly wrong but it wasn't a very satisfying handling of the claim.
