Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
We made a claim because our flight going home after our cruise out of Ft Lauderdale was cancelled due to a snow storm, and ended up having to stay the night. We sent in our claim and did not hear from the insurance company for a month. We contacted the company and resubmitted our claim. Again no response. Finally on our third try they responded that they are processing our claim, this after 3 months. The company does not communicate at all, it is like a big black hole. We received our claim finally and it did not cover the items they claim they cover. Also, they don't explain why our costs were not covered just sent a check and that is that. I would have been better off not purchasing the insurance. It was not worth my time to purchase and was not worth the time to send in the claim. Beware, it does not cover much of anything. When you read it it appears to, but it does not. I definitely do not recommend this insurance, unless you feel you want to make a charitable donation to Nationwide! Save your money.

Upon receiving your review, we immediately assigned an InsureMyTrip "Anytime Advocate" who contacted the Nationwide. According to their records, you filed your claim on 03/27/2018. On behalf of Nationwide, you were later contacted by Co-ordinated Benefit Plans, LLC with a voice mail on 04/18/2018 asking for additional information, by email on 04/24/2018, and again on 05/8/2018 by email advising that your payment was being processed. You have now received your check.
Coverage would have been reimbursed under Trip Delay up to 100 USD per day/500 USD maximum per person:
"The Company will reimburse You for Covered Expenses on a one-time basis, up to the Maximum Benefit shown on the Confirmation of Coverage, if You are delayed, while coverage is in effect, en route to or from the Trip for six (6) or more
hours due to a defined Hazard.
Covered Expenses:
(a) Any Additional Expenses incurred;
(b) A one-way Economy Fare to return You to Your originally scheduled return destination."

We were not contacted at all by Nationwide, not by phone, not by email. We submitted all the documentation 3 times with no response until the 3rd submittal, then the response that our claim was being processed, that was the only communication. The insurance is unresponsive and a waste of money.
Fortunately, I did not need to make a claim for this cruise. Several months ago I had to cancel a cruise because of a death in the family, and I was very pleased with the claims process. The form was easy to complete, and I received my money within 10 days. I will continue to use Nationwide for other cruises in the future.

We had to cancel our trip due to a very serious health issue. At that point we had only paid the deposit but it was fully refunded in a timely manner. The people we communicated with were very understanding and helpful.

My husband and I are very glad we had this trip insurance. Trip insurance has become a must for us, not knowing what circumstances can arise. Unfortunately, we had to cancel due to a health issue with my husband. Fortunately, we had good trip insurance through John Handcock Insurance Agency. Alter filing the claim and their request for additional information from the doctor, we received full payment for the trip expenses incurred. We would highly recommend using this company for all your trip insurance needs.

This was my 3rd plan with April. Thank heaven I did not need to use them this time. Everything went very smoothly. Howerver, we did have an interruption on my previous trip and April came through with a complete refund. They were very helpful and reassuring while in a hospital in a foreign country hospital
I felt so insured for this last trip because of my previous need. They came through in every way. thank you April.
